Never. A while ago, I bought a 3rd party Game Cube controller and the thing crapped out on me after a few weeks. It was also bulkier than the Xbox controller and had an extra button (why?).

it depends on what it is, i bought some 3rd party controlers once, they felt cheap and creecked during button mashing, they were also un-responeive and 3 out 4 are bad enough that i cant use them any more and their parts are keeping the 4th one running, if it feels tough and durable i will probably buy it

I WILL NEVER buy a nyko fan AGAIN, after a month of running it on low while i played mgs4 the fucking batard strated making a highe pitched EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN noise at low rmps, so i had to run it fast enough for it to sound like a turbine engine, to make it stop, in wich i had to turn up the volume and ended up grounded multiple times, i even opened it and hot glued the FUCK out of the insdes and shaved off a bit of the fan blades so the couldnt hit the casing but no, didnt do anyrhing. will NEVER buy something from them again

The only Third Party controller I could ever recommend was the Wave Bird for the Gamecube.

True, but there is no doubting how well it worked.

I bought a Gamestop brand wired controller, and the wire failed within 3 months.

Piece of shit...

But that means with wasn't a third party controller. And it is the best wireless controller.

That was with Nintendo though. And I actually never wanted one. Always liked my controllers wired for some reason.

If it is something simple, like a replacement stylus for my DS then third-party is fine. However with something a bit more expensive, like even a new controller, I tend to go first-party. I feel the quality is better.
You're not alone. I usually tend to do the same.
Same here. There's just something...weird about using a third-party controller for your Xbox

As far as controllers, 1st party only, everything else, whatever is cheapest

I remember a thing I read a while back that explained why 3rd party controllers were so crappy, it basically came down to licensing. Nintendo, MS, and Sony basically don't allow 3rd parties to make better controllers in order not to directly compete

For example , Nyko made a wireless nunchuck for the Wii. Nintendo ended up sueing over it http://www.edge-online.com/news/nintendo-sues-over-wireless-nunchuck

I got a controller for my Wii produced by a company called Pulse.

The A button got stuck in the first time that I pressed it.

It's still stuck.

NEVER trust 3rd party shit!

I tend to find 3rd party Gamecube controllers more comfortable, the regular ones feel too small. My newest one has a better joystick too.

Some third party stuff is good, some is bad... but people who are so narrow-minded they refuse to buy any of it are just causing the market to thin, and the prices of peripherals to go up. Which is, y'know, idyllic for Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft.

Besides, I've had alot of good third-party stuff over the years... the "GB Hunter" for the N64, the unlicensed Game Genie for the NES, and - just recently - two six-button controllers for the Genesis that look they've been played for nonillion hours and still work.

Third Party equipment almost always has significantly inferior quality than products by the console's manufacturer. They usually try to sucker in customers by making them cheaper or give them special features such as the PSX memory cards that can store 10 times the data as a normal memory card. However, you get what you pay for...but with third party, it's usually a lot less as the consequence of saving that 10 bucks is having a product that lasts months instead of years.

Logitec's stuff is pretty epic, though. Now only do they work well and are usually durable, but also their warranties are usually good for a year or so. I returned a headset that messed up and they gave me a new one.

Actually, the Wave Bird is first party and was made by Nintendo. I need to snag me a couple of them used before they disappear completely from stores. I really wish nintendo would sell them again. All wireless controllers sucked until that thing descended from the heavens.

I got 7 of them. So worth it. But why was the quote off? It looked like I said the Wavebird wasn't a First Party..Oh right, the guy I quoted from messed up the code.

It depends on the company and the product. I trust logitech, and have some third-party equipment for my PC, but then again, I think everybody does that. For consoles, I have a wireless PS2 controller and a usb keyboard. I rarely buy based on brand name, so if I'm sure a third-party product will work, and if it offers something the first-party product doesn't, then I'll go for it.
