I've started using my family's Kindle to read Reality Is Broken, and I gotta say how impressed I am with the way the system works. It delivers the books quickly and effectively to you, and only lags a little.
I like the cell-signal usage, too. Sadly, there's really poor signal at my house, and it takes a while to download the books.
The only other issue I have is the lack of skins for the system. Most of the skins on Amazon are really girly, and I at least try to keep up an appearance of masculinity... If anyone knows where to get cool skins, I would be very thanks.

So, what's your stance on readers?

Edit: Just to be clear, owning a physical copy is awesome (I think I own all the Harry Potter books), but the Kindle is far cheaper than paying for a heavy book you'll only read once.

Edit 2: Also, we got the Kindle free from a veterinary conference that my mom went to.
It came with an ugly-as-sin skin that I removed today, and has a little damage on the corner where my dad dropped it.

Edit 3: I started a user group called the Kindle Book Club, if anyone's interested.

Skins are girly by nature. ;)

I love my Kindle. Like crazy. Never thought I'd buy an e-reader, but I'm growing to hate paper books.

My mom uses the Barnes and Noble one. Personally, I think it's a great idea, but I'm too in love with paper and annotating to ever get one myself, except maybe for textbooks.

I can't use Kindle for multiple reasons, the most prominent being that I'd rather just go out and buy the book. Having all the books I could possibly want at my fingertips ruins the fun of going out and looking for the books, discovering new ones in the process...

Well that and I live deep in the country where no signals dare to tread...

I prefer the feel of an actual book.

I have considered getting an iPad and putting some books on there for portability purposes, and some comfort issues (If I'm laying on my side in bed, holding a book larger than a standard paperback can get uncomfortable).

But I'd never get a straight reader. The cost for me is too much. I need other functionality.

I've got a Kindle. I have to say I really like it. Also don't get a skin, get a cover. The Amazon ones are expensive (and the ones with lights in are rip-offs), but it stops it getting scratched or damaged, and look good. I've got a black one.

Also The Escapist is on Kindle! What other reason do you need to buy one?

I'll look into it. I just think the skins look kinda cool.

No, but I think I might save up for one.
Reading what I want to read would be so much easier if I didn't have to order it in a library and then have a time limit to pick it up and finish it.

Yeah, but not much good if you drop it. Unless it's about a quarter inch thick. Also I find it easier and more comfortable to hold with the cover.

Nah, I prefer an actual book. I flip and browse though pages a lot, which sadly is a bit more involving with a reader. That, and I like buying books, a full bookshelf and the smell of paper.

I don't, but my mother loves her Kindle. She barely lets the thing go and uses it non-stop.

In addition to what I said before I like my Kindle because of the little touches such as the ability to store PDF and word documents, and being able to instantly look up a word in the dictionary.

Yeah it's great to have some Kindle when the fire is going low.

It also makes for a great paperweight too, when I need to keep a book open.

Kindles can't start conversations like books do.
Kindles look stupid when you try to read them.

Also, Kindle is for starting fires.
