I have had a 3DS for over a year, but I've never had a game where I felt there was much point to turning on the 3D. (Well, except for in Senran Kagura: Burst during... certain sequences).

How about you, my friends? Do you use the 3D?

I have never and I see no situation in the near nor far future where I would use the 3D.

It barely works and adds absolutely nothing to the games. I have heard it works better on "the new 3DS" but even if it worked to perfection, I've never seen a game do anything with it that would make the drain on your battery worth the 3D...

Bow-chicka-bow-wow.

I would say I use it sparingly, and it really depends on the game. Looks awesome in a Link Between Worlds, with it's multi-layer dungeons. It's not bad in Smash, and Kirby Triple Deluxe uses the effect pretty well.

Nope, never.

I only turn it on when I first bought it to see the effect and needless to say I can easily see my eye (well feel) being strain if I used the 3D for long.

Super Mario 3D World and Paper Mario Sticker both had sections that made it obligatory to use the 3D effect. Other than those small sections I don't use it, I don't have same field of vision on both eyes so it just distorts the image. I end up having to close one eye whenever I'm forced to use 3D effect.

I tend to forget it can use 3D. Because I never use it... ever.

But in that case, how do you manage to finish those sections? If you need to see 3D to finish them, and you turn the 3D off, then...

No, nay never. I never saw the point and it messes up the screen if you don't hold the thing exactly right.

like I said, other than those sections I don't use it. I turn it on and try to make it through as fast as possible before the image gets to distorted, it's hard to explain but the best thing I could think to use as an example is to without blinking sit in front of a fan, as time goes by your eyes will gradually get drier and your vision will slowly get clouded until eventually you'll see barely nothing at all. That's what using the 3D effect does to me because of my poor eye sight :(

Got a 2DS because the 3D didn't really appeal to me; I just wanted it for its stable of games.

Well, there were a couple of other reasons for the choice, such as the 2DS's lack of a hinge. I don't like hinges on handhelds.

When I had the original 3DS I had it permanently off as keeping it steady in that sweet spot to properly see the 3D effect was way too uncomfortable and it hurts the hell out of my eyes.

I'm finding myself using it almost always now with the New 3DS though, actually feels like its what Ninty initially said it would be and the effect itself is really cool in some games, the depth it gives to environments in Phoenix Wright vs Layton is especially very cool. Also it doesn't strain my eyes as much anymore either which is nice.

I still feel its a gimmick though, although a pretty neat one, but still a gimmick.

I turn it on every on in a while for a few seconds just to see if the effect is any good. I usually turn in on for cutscenes or important moments.

I think it's pretty neat overall but only for short burst or it'll get boring.

Senran kagura looks great on it.

The only time I've ever turned that feature on when was I first got it, and I wanted to see what Pokemon would look like in 3D.

And then I promptly turned it off before my eyes could pop out of my skull and slap me.

That is to say, no. I really don't care for the headache either.

I literally got my first 3ds this month, so of course I got the new 3ds.

I did a lot of looking on youtube to get an idea if I should get a vita or a new 3ds. I really just went with the 3ds because I got The World Ends with You again (One of the best games ever made. seriously), so I decided to get a few more games. Smash Bros, Tekken, Monster Hunter.

The 3d in the new 3ds blew my mind. Tekken, to me, looked better than the arcades. I can't even tell you how. 2d, it looks flat and like ps2. Which for a handheld nintendo system is still pretty good. But the 3d makes it look next gen. Same for Monster Hunter. Same for Smash.

Depends on the game. 90% of games I use it regardless of the normal XL or my NewXL that I currently own. I tend to use it for games that feel good with it. But for some reason, I can never avoid eye strain on any 3DS system when playing Monster Hunter. Even Kid Icarus Uprising uses it better and to a MUCH higher degree of intensity, with no eye strain ever. So, I never got why MH bothered me with 3D. That, and it cuts the frame rate a little, so, fuck it!

If I am in a physical position where keeping it properly positioned isn't a pain in the ass I keep it on. I still like the 3D effect a lot to be honest. Though if I am on a road trip where I need to save battery life or just not in a comfortable position I turn it off.
