Poll: Do you use your console for things other than gaming?

My question was inspired by someone's thread asking if they should pick up a PS3 following the recent price-drop. Literally every recommendation in the thread was based on available/upcoming games and exclusives. I know that's often considered the primary function of a console, but I was surprised that no-one mentioned the other capabilities of consoles.

Depending on your brand, they can be DVD/Blu-ray players, internet/youtube terminals for your TV, or Netflix platforms. You can stream media to them from your computer, or you can buy/rent it through the console networks, or get it on demand. Oh and yeah, they do games too.

How do other people here use their consoles? Is it the vast majority games, or do you make 'em do other tricks too? To what extent did non-gaming capabilities of a console influence your decision to buy/not buy it?

I buy a games console, to play games.

Of course, I use PS3 for Bluray and streaming shit from my PC in Full HD.
I use it for that 95% of the time that I use it.

360; no, I used to use it for DVDs in the ancient times.

Don't think I have ever used my ps3 for anything other than games. I use my 360 much more often, although right now I almost only use it for Netflix and talking to friends while on PC games.

i have a Wii...not a lot else i CAN do with it. i know there's the internet channel and a few other channels that don't involve games like the voting one but why would i do that when i can have much more fun gaming?

Watch iPlayer on the Wii, stream videos through my laptop to my Xbox to watch them on the tv (and also as a DVD player)

Well, if you consider PC/Steam as a gaming platform then sometimes i use Steam while in game to google something or listen to music on youtube as i play.
But in terms of using my actual gaming consoles as something else? Nope.

OT: I use my PS3 for watching blu-rays. I also use it for watching DVDs because I prefer the controller setup rather the one for playing DVDs on 360. I actually have way more games for my 360 and use my PS3 mostly as a blu-ray/DVD player.
