No, because I'm a selfish prick.

Really though, the thing is, when you do something to make the world a better place, like volunteer work, you get that nice feeling that you did something good today. Getting that good feeling might not be the reason why you do these things, but it is a payoff for your work. I don't get that good feeling, so what I'm left with is spending my time doing something I'm not enjoying and just having a shitty time doing it. It's just work with no pay of any kind, and I'm not doing that.

If I'm going to be nice to people I need to do it because I want to. Otherwise I just can't be arsed to put the effort into it.

I volunteer at two heritage steam railways in my state! One is the fourth largest in the world! (Puffing Billy!) the other is having a rough time in terms of passenger numbers :/

But I work on and with the steam locomotives, yes I am one of those poor bastards that shovel coal for no pay :p
You lucky bastard. I always wanted a job like that... and on a Narrow Gauge? DAMN!

I volunteer some extra unpaid time at work when shit needs to be done.....

No I don't volunteer. I also definitely do not give money.

I do however intend to give blood at the next and every other available opportunity.

I occasionally do the odd thing. Not regularly though.

Well done on giving blood. I always wanted to do it but then I had a nurse try for about 15 minutes to find a vein on me. My Dad also went to do it around that time and they inserted the needle wrong or something fucking up the valves all the way down his arm leaving him in pain for about 2 months. Then there's our neighbor who does it regularly and they accidentally stuck it in an artery and he ended up filling the bag in like 10 seconds.

There's a reason I don't trust Doctors and Nurses. One time I went into surgery and my dad watched a nurse bend down and touch the floor before she was about to operate and he had to remind her to wash her hands!

I clicked yes because I used to do a lot of volunteer work, I did the doorknock appeals for the Salvation Army, Guide Dogs, Westpac Rescue Helicopter, I did one for Careflight, I've done the 40 hour famine and the MS reading appeal. I did a fair bit for the Red Cross as well, not just door knock, but i helped my grandmother (who is a member of one of the Red Cross branches) do some of their work. I regularly donate old clothes to Lifeline or St Vincent De Paul. But since I graduated high school and uni, I haven't had the time, if I was able I'd donate blood (my platelet count is too high and i've had several blood infections in the last few years)

I volunteer as part of a befriending service but, due to my many hours on night-shift and that I almost always accept overtime, I don't think I'll be carrying it on for that much longer.

I want to give blood, but I keep forgetting to sign up.

I did for a shop for about a year while i was looking for a job, but then i got a job which took up all my time(aka 5am to 5:30 pm five days a week), and apparantley giving up a hour or two on the day off ive not got prior arrangements on just served to annoy them, i didn't get fired but the snide comments just made me say screw it.

I'm one of the people responsible for the economy in the Natural Scientists' Association at my university. I started off with working in their bar initially, and then it kind of all went downhill from there.

I don't do any volunteer work or donation and it's actually only 90% my own can't-be-arsed-disease that prevents me.

I've been wanting to donate blood since I turned 18 though at the time I was just simply not allowed due to rigid and old fashioned laws concerning blood donation. They have changed now, sort of recently, but they still prevent me from donating blood unless I lead a chaste life for an entire year.

I've never given blood, donated to Charity or volunteer.

Although when I go back home for the summer and I don't find a job I'll probably look into volunteering at a Charity shop.

No I don't volunteer or donate. I only want to work if I get paid for it and I'd rather keep the money I earn, I have my own uses for it.

I've volunteered for a few things here and there. I don't donate blood though because I'm terrified of needles.

Same here. I would love to donate all the blood I can miss without falling over, but I can't because I'm not allowed at any condition.

I've never volunteered, but I do donate money to charities I support when I can. As bad as it sounds, I just don't have the time to spare to work without getting paid for it and right now I need all the money I can get. Food, rent and studying stuff has to come before charity, I'm afraid.
