I'm thinking less of a sequel and more of a prequel.
Now before I get flamed, let me say that this is what they ORIGINALLY planned for Portal 2. it would take place in the '50s, before Chell, GLaDOS, or even the Portal Device. that's right, Portal 2 originally did not feature portals. it had something called the F-Stop which the players would use to solve all of the puzzles. and at one point, Cave Johnson would lead a robot rebellion and put the player on trial.
I actually think that it sounds like a pretty cool idea (I'm GLaD they didn't do it, I'da been pissed if the "sequel" was the prequel), but this could be something cool to explore in the future. some of the most interesting parts for me in Portal 2 were in the Aperture catacombs. Cave Johnson was hilarious and it was cool seeing Aperture back in the beginning and imagining it in it's prime, finding out GLaDOS' origin, and such.
