I'm thinking less of a sequel and more of a prequel.
Now before I get flamed, let me say that this is what they ORIGINALLY planned for Portal 2. it would take place in the '50s, before Chell, GLaDOS, or even the Portal Device. that's right, Portal 2 originally did not feature portals. it had something called the F-Stop which the players would use to solve all of the puzzles. and at one point, Cave Johnson would lead a robot rebellion and put the player on trial.
I actually think that it sounds like a pretty cool idea (I'm GLaD they didn't do it, I'da been pissed if the "sequel" was the prequel), but this could be something cool to explore in the future. some of the most interesting parts for me in Portal 2 were in the Aperture catacombs. Cave Johnson was hilarious and it was cool seeing Aperture back in the beginning and imagining it in it's prime, finding out GLaDOS' origin, and such.

I would like to see what happens to Chell now that she's free, as well as learn more about Aperture Science; however, I don't think that it should be in the form of another Portal game.

id love to see a portal 3 (the nding in portal 2 gave me that feeling you get when you get attached to chacters after a long story and you get to know and love them and then it ends and you feel sad and want more)

that said theyve done a prety decent job of wraping up chells story(sort of theres still the question as what shes going to do now)and id love to see (if they decide to included her in portal 3)how they will work around this will they contuines chells story or will they go in a diffrent direction alltogether(foucuing on atlas and p-body perhaps)

Only if they can find a way to justify it. Either they would need to find a valid reason for Chell returning (which isn't impossible), follow one or both of the robots, or develop a new protagonist.

Either that or it would have to go out of the lab and into the real world. Maybe GLaDOS becomes Skynet and takes over an entire city? But, I don't know. I feel like not being in the labs would ruin the feel of the games. Maybe they could set the game in the past around the time Cave Johnson was alive or something?

I would like a game relating to Portal, continuing Chell's story. But what I am hoping is that it goes to HLe3. I don't want a Portal 3. The story of Aperture is all gift wrapped and sent off.

Alright, here is a good idea. Alright, now what if Cave Johnson was actually put into one of those giant core-things, and he was somehow getting the defective cores to work for him, and GlaDos had to use ATLAS and P-Body to stop him.

If it?s good, why not? The question is can they make another good one. Portal 2 managed to keep the puzzles fairly fresh but I?m not sure they could do that with another game and as awesome as GLaDOS is she runs the risk of becoming stale too. If chell was brought back to aperture again it would likely seem contrived though they could just give us a different protagonist.

Chell deserves her freedom. So I'd love to see portal 3 with a new character.

It would be nice to see more of Chell, perhaps in HL3. But aren't the timelines completely contradictory? I thought portal 2 took place decades after HL2.

I'm pretty sure Chell is still stuck inside the facility. Some ARG pics showed a barn and a field just like the one at the ending.
