I think the only missions I took him on were the first few when you only had him and Miranda, then his loyalty mission. He just wasn't very interesting.

I liked Jacob... he was honest and he didn't have a blown up ego like everyone else. He was a just a military man trying to do the right thing, like Shep.
I didn't like him at first but him and Legion turned out to be a couple of my favs.

I'd like to see him make an appearance at least, although being a squad member wouldn't hurt either. He was a rather likeable character, certainly not as exotic and interesting as the aliens but he was an honest, no-bullshit soldier, who would give his opinion every now and then without sounding cocky. Of all the squad's human characters in ME2 I propably liked him the most. Zaeed was a rather selfish mercenary with some funny one-liners, Jack despite her good "excuse" to act like a ***** was exactly that, a *****. Miranda seemed like a diva ice queen, and out of the airlock she goes. Kasumi was alright too.

Also, I found his loyalty mission to be one of the more interesting ones. Can't wait to see on which side he ends up in ME3.

I found his character pretty boring to be perfectly honest. Nothing really interesting, no character development, and I'd sooner have most of the rest of the party in a fight before him. I wouldn't mind a cameo, but that's it.

He wasn't a deep character by a long shot but he was certainly useful and good to have around. He doesn't have to be on the team but most people just saw him as another gun.

I get the feeling that Jacob and Miranda were designed to be the renegade version of Ashley and Kaidan. I don't care much for either Jacob or Kaidan, but since they're there, they were LI and all it'd be a shame if they were relegated to a mention. The ones that are the most likely to be relegated to mentions are those that have looser ties to Shepard, say Samara-Morinth (other loyalties), Thane (ill), Zaeed (mercenary, dlc), Kasumi (thief, dlc).

Well part of the blandness is I think due to the fact he was first made as Video Game protagonist (yea he might have been design as ME2 party member at fist, but VG protagonist are usually naturally bland)

I didn't care about him much at all, he seemed bland and kinda pointless to me. Also, every time my Shepard talked to him he hit on her, but I was havin' none of that - I was staying faithful to my beautiful blue biotic goddess.
His character model was weirdly proportioned too, which was kinda off-putting. What's up with the shoulders being four times the width of the hips? Unless he was a world champion bodybuilder, that just looks wrong.

Meh, nice enough guy but neither of the Cerberus operatives were particularly inspiring. At least there was shared history and rapport with Garrus straight off, had Jacob not spent so much time being cagey, playing soldier and saying "bog off I'm busy" in the early stages, I might have taken a little more time with him (not bothered if I see Grunt again either, I'd rather have Wrex back). At least Miranda was handy to have in combat- similar weapon set to Jacob, but with Warp & Overload which I used all the damn time. I'm guessing all the paramours will be back in some form to introduce some dramatic tension for people who hopped beds in the second. The Shadow Broker dlc encouraged me to redo my ME1 save and romance Liara, so I'm set :)

Just a thought: although Bioware have said it will be a smaller team, I wonder if they might provide more recruiting options than team slots? Force you to build your group with consideration to what you need rather than just "go get this guy, this guy, this turian, two biotics, a krogan and you're all set". I don't know how practical it would be from a development standpoint, but it would be nice to have some choice over who you fight and maybe die with.

He was on ME2 and he did not die during my playthrough so yes. He doesnt have to be a party member but I would like to see him again just know hear his opinions on the events of the previous and present games.

He was useless for me in combat, and I thought he was pretty bland, although he did one of my favorite loyalty missions, if he can guarentee me another awesome mission I'll welcome him back.

He's the average straight-man character in a cast full of freaks. I agree that he was mostly bland and his powers sucked, but again he was more valuable as the straight-laced marine voice of reason in terms of story than he was as a squadmate (kinda like Kaiden was in ME1).

Ideally, I'd like to see him make a cameo in ME3, if only to die early on in a Reaper attack. He'd still be in the game, and his loss would give the attack/intro/etc. a greater punch. Even if you didn't care for him, it'd be a testament to the fact that in ME3, the shit is really hitting the fan.

Oh god no he was so bland and uninteresting. There is a reason why female players choose the goddamn ALIEN guys over him. I have a feeling they just added him so that there was a human male love interest. Even his loyalty quest was made of fail.

Do not want.
Second time I've quoted you recently.

He's a boring as hell character no doubt about, he provides very little to the overall storyline. He was only brought into it at the beginning to help establish the Cerberus connection and then when you're doing the loyalty mission.
He offers nothing in terms of combat either, essentially he's just a cheerleader for "Team Shepard" and will just do as you say because he's moronically loyal.

He's Kaiden.2 and that's definitely not a good thing.
