I liked the comradery between Shepard and Jacob, kinda wished we had more conversations trees end up like that. Jacob seemed to be pretty well adjusted, whereas most everyone else had pretty big issues. If you disabled auto power usage, Jacob worked just fine in the squad.

I voted other... my explanation for such is essentially "meh". I really don't care. The guy was an okay squad member, with the occasional bit of almost-wit to add to the story. So much wasted potential, though. He could be a great character with a little progression and fleshing out.
I also wish there had been some non-romantic conversation options with him for my female Shepard (she was all about Liara, and toying with Kelly in the interim), he seemed like he could have been a great "brofist" character if teamed with Garrus, and it would have been fun to have his help in annoying Miranda. As he stands, though, I don't really care one way or the other. He's more entertaining than a lot of squad members (such as Kaidan and Ashley... I swear, I never used human squad members in the first game if I could help it... they were so boring), but hardly a stand-out requirement such as Garrus or Mordin.

This is how I envision Jacob in my ME3 playthroughs:

Him and Shep are drinking at a bar on Earth to blow off a little steam, Jacob is drunk but Shep doesn't drink, the reapers attack and the bar is in a rumble area, a beam falls on Jacob and kills him but he still has a smile on his face, Shep gets even more PISSED.

OR (and more likely)

Cerberus pulls some crap and tries to put a hit out on Miranda and Jacob takes a bullet for Miranda (as a half-hearted try and get at Shep - because even the Illusive Man knows that I will come and find his space station personally and do unmentionable things to him if he goes after Tali, you know he is fairly reasonable). Miranda goes blood-drunk and sacrifices herself in order to save the team and be with Jacob in the end.

He was, as almost everyone before me has said, boring. I replaced him as soon as I could.
There was nothing that made me want to keep him in the team, no outstanding abilities, no good weapons, nothing...

So he should only appear as a cameo, not as a squad member.

i want him there far more than i want miranda to show up. but they where both equally 2 dimentional, insipid and pointless characters in a game full of much more interesting people/aliens.

I didn't find him interesting, I didn't use him in combat, and aside from his personal mission I basically didn't even know he existed beyond the start.

However, there are two things that might persuade me to take him back.

Firstly, I also didn't ever use Wrex, or Ashley, or even Garrus during the first game (except for some specific moments) but that didn't mean I didn't like them. In the second game I didn't use Jack, or Thane, or Mordin, or Zaeed, or Kasumi during the second game, but that doesn't mean I didn't like them. The difference is they had the added bonus of actually having decent conversation options outside combat. So give Jacob some half decent communication skills and I'd be fine with having him back. I just don't like using soldier types in battle, so they have to be able to smooth talk their way onto my crew.

OR

I'm writing a Mass Effect novelisation (shameless plug goes http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2151039/MelasZepheos) and most of it is based around the crew's interactions rather than the fighting. I may or may not do interesting things with Jacob in the crew sections. For example I ended up loving Ashley as a character in my story, even if I wasn't so fond of her in game. Thus if I end up liking Jacob by the time I've finished the ME2 novelisation, I may want him in the third game for writing reasons.

Or we could just put a plank of wood stacked vertically in the armory and draw a smiley face on it. It could do everything Jacob did emotionally, and would probably have more charisma.

Oooh, sick burn. Not.

I hope not, he was amazingly dull as a character (although I will admit that he had an interesting quest). He was like Fenris from DA2 but without the dwarf to make fun of him and 'that hand thing you do'. I would also not like to see the Krogan guy from 2 come back, mainly because whenever he was made to seem aggressive it just seemed like he was emitting sexual tension.

As long as they include Jack I'll buy it.

He was a whiny little douche and I couldn't wait to send him to his death in the vents during the suicide mission!

I do hope he returns in ME3 though, so that I can have the oppertunity to waste his ass again.

The only interesting thing Jacob did was not die in the final mission. I probably would't of cared if he did.

I think the mixed emotions from Grunt's interactions are on purpose. The whole idea of Grunt was that he was a Korgan paragon physically, but whom didn't have the life experience and cultural understanding to express himself properly as natural Krogan do. His behaviour was fitting for the character IMO.

I would also like Jack in ME3. If you actually went all the way with her in a relationship she was very well fleshed out.

Didn't expect her to end up crying in the end though.

He accidentally got shot in the face during the end mission(oops), so whatever Bioware decides I have it covered.

Maybe it was because I was playing a Female Shepard but when he grabs you by the throat and pushes you up against the wall (not to mention the dialogue wheel making him hold you there for several seconds) you can almost smell his lust.

I didn't really like Jacob, he didn't add much at all. His conversations were dull and his overall abilities weren't too great either. He'd make a good cameo, though.

I loved his loyalty mission, one of the few ones that felt 'open' and appropriate for my sniper, plus the scenery was gorgeous. Give him a mention to see where her is now, but he is very near the bottom of those I want on my squad.

He was certainly the most bland of the cast but he's good in his own way. Besides you control if he goes to ME3 or not, just get him killed and transfer that save.
