I'm sorry but the world what its is and whether you like it not, that is the political reality. If you are brickie who has seen his income drop because of immigration from Poland and you see a labour party supporter replacing a white male like you with someone else, what do conclusion do think they will make. It won't be it wow thats made the show diverse. Its far more likely to be bloody lefty being politically correct, I have pay £125 a year for this Guardian reading crap and I have to pay extra to get the premiership.
Well, that turned into a vague attack on... Immigration and The Guardian, bizarrely. Neither of which have any significant impact on the casting of Dr. Who whatsoever.

If somebody's response to the casting of a minority actor (in a show in which that casting makes fine logical sense) is to moan about 'political correctness', then that person seriously lacks perspective.

I refer you to my first post on the front page

I'm not against the Dr being a non white male per say, but I don't want the casting to be about being diverse. Its got to be the right actor for the job.
I have clearly made my point view clear there. However using the ability know as empathy I can see beyond my own point of view to see someone else's. This is the ability needed to capture a general audience that goes out in primetime on Saturday night. If they make the show reflect the views of Guardian readers only, they will only get Guardian readers watching it. To be blunt, you can't piss off people that read the Sun and go out on Saturday night. Sure as eggs is eggs the Mail and the Sun will attack the BBC for following a liberal left agenda especially given Moffatt's own publicly stated political views.

How on earth is having a minority actor, in a logical position, "reflecting the views of Guardian readers only"?

I see no reason why the Doctor needs to be female or an ethnic minority if the sole reason for choosing the people who have played him so far is that they're good actors who fit the role in the way the showrunners of the time envision. Choosing a female actor purely because she's female, or a black actor purely because he's black, to play the Doctor would be just as bad (if not worse) than having all white males, because it would be open and blatant pandering to racial/sexist concerns. As long as the character is good I couldn't care less who plays the Doctor, regardless of whether they're male or female or black or white or anything in-between, and I'm perfectly happy with Peter Capaldi taking over. I look forward to seeing what he brings to the role, especially considering he's already had two different roles in the show before (once in The Fires of Pompeii, and an ongoing role in Torchwood's Children of Earth mini-series).

Yeah? I mean, if a black guy auditions for the Doctor's role and kills it, then cast him. Same goes for an asian guy, or whatever. Why not?

Not everyone in the country has the same view has you. UKIP would not being doing as well in the polls if everyone thought the same way about diversity. Other people have different opinions and see the world in other ways, the Sun and the Mail are the UK's largest selling newspapers but are not known for their support of minority rights, whereas the Guardian is known as supporter of minorities. Moffat is fully paid up member of the Guardian reading labour party supporting luviedom, all his actions will be view in the wider battle over the BBC perceived leftwing bias. I personally prefer Moffat's version of the show to RTD's but he has allowed his personal political views to become public and there are people waiting to attack him for those views. Playing diversity games with casting will just give them ammunition. It beggars belief that this still needs to be said, but the comment sections of Daily Mail opinion pieces are not exactly known for intelligent debate, and producers should not base their decisions on the opinions of the misinformed.
