It was a close one between Eccleston and Tennant, but I just love how Tennent does random better, and I also think he's the better actor.

On a side note, I can't stop laughing at your avatar OP. It's just brilliant. =D

Damn you and your brilliant coat! *attempts to snatch it for self*

I find it hard to pick... I love Eccleston, but I suppose Tennant wins by a little bit because he's been a real fan of the show ever since he was a kid.

I think that Tennant and Smith play very different characters. Tennant was very energetic and animated, always moving and talking really quickly with all those funny asides.

Smith plays a relatively quiet person. He's a lot more reserved, and kind of seems depressed most of the time. He's like Dr. Emo. He doesn't crack as many jokes, as well. The biggest thing, however, is that he gives in to the zero sum games that he has to sometimes play. For example, in the episode where

He had to decide whether to let the giant whale powering the city suffer. He actually picked a choice that wasn't the best one. Tennant's doctor would never have done that, he always finds choice C. Yes, I know that the episode was where the new companion had to prove her worth, but still...

Christopher Eccleston because he was just fantastic!
Yeah I love Christopher Eccleston, he was intense when needed and light-hearted too. He was also more sarcastic and less face-pulling-ish than Tennant. I hope they bring him back in some kind of multiple doctor scenario or a parallel universe. Anything can happen in doctor who.

Honestly, I think Smith is playing a Doctor who is wracked with guilt over his past actions like in the episode
With the Dream Lord and he's confronted with the fact that he takes companions and in a way, makes them want to give their lives for anything he believes in. He doesn't really see himself as a true friend, seeing as how he always has to leave his companions in the end.

I'm half expacting him to feature in a silent movie where he's putting a tied up woman on a train track.

why just the new doctors? whats wrong with a bit of pertwee or hartnell back in the days when the sets rocked (literally) god i'm old.
Because their aren't enough spaces in the poll for every Doctor :p

OT: It is a close call between Tennant and Eccleston

Tennant wins because I own a replica of his coat xD
Your new avatar is awesome. So very, very awesome.

Favourite new doctor? A close call between Christopher Eccleston and Matt Smith. Although I did like David Tennant during his bitter phase.

Favourite companion? Martha. Intelligent enough to keep up with the doctor, and it doesn't hurt that Freema Agyeman is hot.

At first I was going to say Christopher Eccleston, as he was definitely fantastic.

But then I remember that David Tennant dropped Satan into a Black Hole, and then later saved the whole of reality twice. And then of course there's the episodes Blink and Human Nature/Family of Blood.

Ecclestone > Smith > Tennant.

Mainly 'cause the Ecclestone's series was actually well-written and worth watching. David Tennant's a great actor, but his Doctor's personality gave the writers too much leeway for self-indulgence and unfunny bullshit.

I loved Christopher Ecclestone, it showed a side that had mild contempt for humanity, which Rose eventually knocked out of him. Matt Smith is doing brilliantly so far, even if he did start out alot like Tennant's Doctor. However, he is starting to come out on his own and I predict good things for him.

David Tennant is my favourite. So many things just made him stand out from the other two.

I really like smith, he is energetic when required and subtle enough of an actor to pull of a 10 second thinking shot.
I like all of them though and am looking forward to watching the pre 2005 episodes :D

plus he can run without clenching his teeth, can't he Tennant

Matt Smith is gaining on David Tennant as one of my favorites... for me it breaks down as follows...

#1: David Tennant
#2: Matt Smith
#3: Tom Baker
#4: Chris Ecclesson (Never felt he had a chance to really grow into the character, also found him a bit too indecisive)
#5: William Hartnell
#6: Peter Davisson

Gotta love Tom Baker, yes you do.

Uhh...what Doctor Who were you watching? Donna was arguably the most in love with the Doctor.

You must have Donna confused with Rose, because that makes absolutely no sense.
No I am not. Donna saw the Doctor as her knight in shinning armor. She longed for him after her wedding day. She became obsessed to finding him so he could whisk her away into the stars. Rose just kind of fell in love with him after Tennant took over for whatever reason.
