I have been to a psychologist before. Not for myself--at least, not initially--but instead for my mother. My mother was telling her psychologist lies, so I went in and told her what actually had happened.

Then I was kept for a few sessions because said events were apparently "traumatic".

Yeah, psychologist didn't help. Didn't need one anyway.

Yep I have gone to one for years. Got a lot of things taken care of thanks to him. Currently don't need regular visits.

Not so much 'ordered by the court' as 'ordered by my parents after they split up'.

That was a fun few weeks.

I don't, but it would probably be a good idea. Shame I don't have the money or nerve to actually give it a shot.

I don't, but I did.

Ordered to go actually, I was in the military and a few anger issues. I didn't think much of it at the time, and realized a couple of years later (well over the next couple of years) that it would have been a better idea to at least have tried to better myself.

I did as a child and teenager. To make a very long story short, while I believe there is a degree of worth in counseling, the experience has largely made me regard the field of psychiatry as only marginally better than quackery.

I don't currently, but I'm considering it. Some people say it helps with self-esteem and self-confidence, both being things I possess little of.

I have before. It was court ordered, but I had asked to start seeing one independently, my grandparents just refused to until the court ordered them.

For the record, I didn't murder anyone. I got in trouble for constantly skipping English class my freshman year. Yeah, Texas sends people to shrinks for skipping class.
Same here, bro.
Skipping Arabic classes in Israel is murder and I am the killer.
And now I'm in a psychiatric hospital because of it.

Yes I do, have been for the last year and it has really helped me a lot. I'm doing much better now and hoping to be discharged soon.

No, but I have thought about it. Then I remember that I have a good life and should stop complaining and I have no right to feel depressed. (This is not supposed to be a joke or insult, but this is actually how I feel when considering therapy.)

I do go to a psychologist, because I have social anxiety and was (and still is at times) depressed. I had a bad few months about a year back, and since then I've massively improved, though I still 'suffer'.

I tend to switch between my new healthier psychological state, and my old unhealthy state nowadays. Because I haven't gotten rid of my old bad thoughts yet, it takes time.

In my job we're sent for bi-yearly appraisals and if something happens to us: injury, death in the family etc - we're also required to go again. To be honest I've never really found talking to one very helpful but I guess if you've no one to turn to, confide in or get advice from they can be invaluable. Make the most of it.

No

I don't see any reason to. Sure I got problems like everyone else but I can handle it.

I went once through school. That is what schools do with people that get bullied. They do not try and solve the problem they just kick the victim to a child shrink.

That 1 talk really destroyed my trust in any shrinks(never went back again). Even though it might be better for me to talk about certain things that experience doesn't really help make the first step.
