Come on...Does anyone miss/remember the tape deck area of gaming? Spectrum/C64/Amstrads?
Wasn't that some fun gaming with those classics like Head Over Heels? (Look it up...A good free remake is out there and it rocks)

How about Freddy Hardest? Chase HQ? The Vindicator?

Or that ***** of a game Predator (Based on the film...If you didn't get that).
That was fantastic..It had the ideal punishment for dying...You had to reload the game (Which took 30 bloody minutes) so unlike todays cycle of die/continue/die/continue/die/continue/reachcheckpoint/repeat it was die/reload/die/reload/die/reload/actually-die-of-old-age.

There must be some gamers in their 20's that remember this...Right?
I hope it's not just me....

Yeah, I've used a few old systems back when I was a kid and they used various tapes.
Most notable was the basic audio tape! lol Reminds me of some interesting facts though (Which I can't bring up here lol)

I Dont miss Tapes at all, nothing worse than getting a copy of Bruce Lee or cauldron for the C64 and having your brother record Sisters of Mercy or the Clash over it cause there were no damn blank tapes in the house..sigh

True that, I'm actually seriously hating the idea of Digital Distribution becoming the norm.
It'll save on room but I personally love having the physical disc.

@Googooguru
You think thats bad? I think I ate like...at least 10 to 15 of my brothers games :D
Although there was something about the era that was charming...Although rose-tinted specs come to mind...

I dunno I guess that era and the era that followed were for me the good years then the Playstation hit and that was for me...The golden era...

Actually....never played any of those formats. Cartridges are all I ever saw, ever. Like, the Ataris, the Intellivisions.... Er, not including floppies on early computers, of course...hooray giant, memory-deficient magnet-disks!

I thought this was going to be about cassette tapes for music...

Nope. We didn't have tapes, our first computer had a 5 1/2 inch floppy drive.
That was cutting edge stuff back in those days.

My cousin had an old Atari from the 80's, but that was cartridge-based.

My sister loved that stuff. I'm too young to remember playing any, but I know she did some crazy stuff.

@Blemontea
lol! Floppy disk era? well if we are talking history here we started in the "Plastic film over tv" era :p

But na, some of these PC's (If you can call them that) did have access to expansion ports that would allow various...uh...expansions (I'm a pro writer baby yeah) and one of these would have been the floppy disk drive.

@Child of lileth

You dunno what you missed mate...I say it again...

HEAD OVER HEELS! (Remake aval for windows out there somewhere)

Best...Isometric...Platformer!....EVER!!! (It was the first game I really truely enjoyed)

I was late to the C64 but when my family took the leap we bought the brand new floppy drive. Best game on the C64? Pirates!

I vaguely remember in Kindergarten playing a game where you made your own pizza, an ET game where you were walking around different screens and some other strange games I have fuzzy memories of. All using tapes...
