Ok, this came up when my friend and I were driving around in his car. He flicked the radio to a different channel because he knows I'm not one for his hard clubber music, and then Akon/David Guetta's 'Sexy Chick' came on and he said "Yeah I know this is your jam. This is everybody's jam." And then I realised this was really true. I love the song. All my friends love the song. The nerds that sit inside and play pokemon in their breaktime even like this song. I was just wondering if anyone at the Escapist dislikes/has a big objection to it? Also what is the Escapist-people's attitude to songs that are sort of halfway between club music and popular music, like Dizzee Rascal's new stuff?

By the way, this is the song here if you don't know it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9hazmsUxrM
You sir, Have an Awesome screename...Although i do not care for your music tastes

WAY, WAY, WAY too generic and stupid. The fact that is sounds a shitload like this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFzTl17LB2o] for me proves that it has to be retarded.

It was awful.
This song & the fact that you say everyone you know likes it would demonstrate to me that there is a definite decline in the quality of people's musical tastes these days, were it not for Reverend Horton Heat. They are the one post-millenium band that has managed to consistently produce good music.
Agreed. That and people just make too much money and too little art out of music nowadays.

heh, see what I did there? With the rhythm and the punctuation?

I was actually referring to my need to find a piano and force the....aberration...that the OP inflicted on us out of my head with The Power Of Jazz.

But you're right, that is beautiful. Thank you for introducing me to it.

Not my style.

The only thing I can find to like about that song (I use the term song loosely) is the line

"Try to find the words to describe this girl without being disrespectful" (or something along those lines. You know, like he was sitting there for a while, racking his little brain for some words, any words.

He finds 'Sexy *****'.

The use of vocabulary is astounding.

This song just reminded me why I haven't listened to mainstream chart music in four years...

*sigh* Popularity always seems to go to the most insubstantial material, I guess because the market demographic for popular music is all the thirteen year olds with infinite mobile phone credit who haven't gotten tired of listening to the same song over and over again that MTV panders to.

Yeah, I'll stick to my classics and underground artists.

I really hate songs like these, they just get on my nerves.

Anyways, Mr. thread starter, your name simply rocks. You get a bazillion virtual cookies for naming yourself "Chesterfield Snapdragon McFisticuffs".

That song was ghastly. Infact, anything with Akon's name attached tends to be.
Haha agreed completely :)
I'm sure if I'd had enough alcohol I'd be able to dance to it, but otherwise a pretty crap song :/

Yeah...I cannot stand it.
My biggest objection probably comes with the involvement of Akon.
I've hated him for a looong time. With no explainable reason.
Aaaaand there's auto-tune. My ear's enemy.

.
I love you.

Autotune has destroyed pop music. Now any talentless fuckwit can be a popstar and you can't even tell any of them apart because they all sound like Robbie the Robot.

I HATE Autotune.

And Akon.

Now this song is awesome. Some guy used it in a video on Youtube that showed his life in a year of photos or something, and then the Simpsons parodied it using Homer:
