They do have games like Fable that cover the action adventure/RPG aspect, but otherwise most games i see for Xbox aand the 360 are mostly shooters and sports games (including racing and wrestling/UFC).

I don't know, but its a bit of a turn of for me when most console exclusives feel repetative.

I'm always up for more variety in games, so I'll say yes, it does need a wider array of exclusives. Out of the 3 current generation consoles, it does seem to have the least variety.

I'm happy with what I have on my 360, out of the two other consoles the only game I wish I could play is Little Big planet (and 2 when it comes out). However, it's always nice to have more games come out and populate the area thing is, I can't think of many new and exclusive AAA IPs off the top of my head, when your putting that amount of money into a project you tend to want to have it on as many platforms as possible.

I would love if E3 showed us some new exclusives (baring the ones on various motion controls), but I think we'll have to wait for a new console to see that.

Microsoft has games exclusively on the 360 and Windows, I don't think it minds that games are on both of its platforms, the only people who care are the fanboys.

The Xbox has two true exclusives now that Fable has gone to the PC: Halo and Gears of War. The company making Halo will soon be making games for the PS3. Microsoft is in a pickle, no?

No, well made multiplatforms out do exclusives. It also seems most buyers don't buy a console purely on exclusives, but on a combination of word of mouth and pricing.

Besides, why the desire for exclusives, are owner's of other brand's products not good enough to play the same games as you? Or are you too weak to play their games?*

In terms of sales, repairing the 360's horrible reputation for reliability would do more than exclusives. Whilst the current models are much more reliable, the damage was done with the first two/three revisions and Microsoft's apparent lack of understanding/admittance with what actually went wrong. That will take a long time to be forgotten.

*Yes, I'm just being pedantic

Not exactly - all of the major players have exclusives, so there's no real way of telling if they have a financial benefit. Or, more importantly, if not having exclusives (when everyone else does) causes financial detriment.

OT: A wider range of exclusives? Yes. But just having more exclusives? I don't think that's quite so necessary.

Actually, the reportI refer to found out that console exclusives were the least likely reason for someone to buy a console. Basically, while the commonly believe thought is that a good console needs a "Killer app", it's rapidly being proven not to be so, and that people are far more likely to buy according to price range or whether their friends have the same console.
OK, hadn't seen that article. Still, I suspect that if the PS3 had Little Big Planet, Heavy Rain, God of War, the Ratchet and Clank series etc... and the xbox only had multiplatform releases, it would have greatly hurt sales of the 360 anyway.

I've never understood why people want them either, the only reason I've been able to deduce is that they want to feel superior. I think, I've no idea.

I mean, if a game can't play on a platform, then it shouldn't go there, but if it can, it should. More money for all.
yeah but exclusives drives competition. Had games like LBP or Uncharted 2 been on mutliple consoles, they would have suffered. sure they might have sold more but doesnt mean the game would be as good.

No, I'm fed up of exclusives, I dont want to have to own 17 consoles just to play good games, I understand some games dont work on other consoles/pc, (Like wii games) But it seems stupid to me, Like fable 2 being only on consoles annoyed the hell out of me.

Obviously, but I'm just complaining about exclusives in general. If there has to be no exclusives, which I'd be in favour of, then it has to be for all platforms that can support them.
I own a console which I originally bought on the strength of a single exclusive (I had to see how halo ended...), and I'm still in agreement that having no exclusives at all would be a good thing! Apart from wii games, so I guess that would be 'platforms that can support them'

While it would be nice, I don't think they really need it. They've been getting a ton of money with their current setup, so they don't really need to branch out.
Would be nice to get some other stuff, though.
