I don't really get this about misusing power. If you've got a lot a power, use it till you lose it. You can worry about all the other people that were sitting up on their moral highchairs looking down on you for beating up all those 3rd world countries later.

Well we did declare war on Iraq in search of they mythical WMD's and changed why we were fighting afterwords, so I'd say we did but we're not quite as bad now.
The mythical WMD's were a cover for the real reason, the fact that the gulf war wasn't really a finished battle.

Anyways. To anybody who says the U.S should pull out: I will make this crystal clear. Go, quickly, remove your head out of your ass.

If the U.S would have pulled out after the fighting stopped, it would be Afghanistan 2.0.
We shouldn't pull out immediately. We made a mistake, and we have to stay there to keep it from getting worse.

I really didn't pay any attention to what?

Could you please specify which statements were incorrect? Also, after specifying, provide validation as to why so?

It's not that I can't accept that you disagree; simply, I can't tell with what you disagree, or why.
oop my bad.

the first part of the war was started because the taliban stated they bombed the WTC
and that was actually a really stupid fuckign idea on their part >.> its like kicking a really big man, and not hiding, he will kill you

No worries. And thanks for clarifying.

Yes, the "war" in Afganistan was retalitory. Though to be "fair", the attack on the WTC could be considered retalitory for the U.S. pulling out early in the previous conflict.

Actually, a lot of the conflicts that the U.S. has been revisiting generally could have been avoided, or unecessary, if the U.S. had actually finished the earlier conflicts completely. Not that the U.S. is entirely to blame, the countries that complain now are the same countries that voted to stop when we did the first time.

There's only two poll options. Is there one that says "It doesn't matter what you think, the USA will keep on doing what it is doing anyway"?

Because it's true. This thread and all related don't matter, unless you're in a position of power in a government, which I highly doubt a majority of you are.

But, if I had to answer the question, no. The US abuses the power it has in completely correct amounts.

Most political theorists agree that international relations are essentially anarchic and that the only way for a nation to succeed in an anarchic setting is to act selfishly. It's the whole 'good guys finish last' thing again. Sure, you can have good intentions, as America arguably does have, but it's hard without strict regulation to achieve its lofty goals without being forceful.
