Sadly, I wasn't allowed to ever play MercNet with MW2:M. Probably for the best.
And for some reason, My MW2:M has never worked. I've tried all sorts of different machines, every how-to guide with DOSBOX and BOXER, going so far as to try to get an early laptop to work again...

Oh, and your avatar is for the Lyran Commonwealth. Note the Square background as opposed to the pentagon/diamond which signifies the post-FedCom "Lyran Alliance." Noted for House Steiner's uninterrupted rule since the first succession war, it's decidedly Germanesque flavor, and being an economic powerhouse, or at least it was until Jade Falcon came down on them and House Marik in the FWL started abusing their position of safety to make tonnes of money selling military hardware to the-Oh Christ, I know too much about the Battletech mythos for my own good. Maybe someday I'll forget enough about it that I can finally stop using an apostrophe every time I type 'mech because I'm one of the few that know/remember it is supposed to be short for "Battlemech."

I used to tabletop Battletech up until all the Clan stuff was released and ruined the game with it's munchkin bullshit.

Use C-bill cost to balance forces. I played Inner Sphere and won almost every time a clanner sat down. Sure, a Summoner [http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Summoner_(Thor)] is awesome, but holy crap is that Thor [http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Summoner_(Thor)] expensive. I even tended to avoid using 'mechs at all. You'd be surprised how cheap and effective Hetzer Wheeled Assault Guns [http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Hetzer] are. C-Bills, good sir, is what decides winners. The Sphere has more of it, knows how to make it, and is better at spending it than the Clanners could ever hope to be.

I played through the clan invasion because unequal technology can happen in warfare (Germany v Soviet Union) but I did quit playing when they started making "Protomechs" [http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Protomech] though. Even I couldn't swallow that RetCon [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RetCon] silliness.
