Xbox was the first console of this gen, and still remains way cheaper than the ps3, also has more than a few good shooters. It simply has a more established community, it's by simple math that it's going to have more people and more assholes.
I own a PS3, Xbox 360 and I am also a PC gamer.
Now to be honest I barely use my PS3 and would not invest in a mic anyway.
The difference is (when I bought my consoles)
Xbox 360 comes with a mic
PS3 does not
PC does (most do now)
Based on communication during online games, the level of idiocy, immaturity and down right retardation seems pretty much the same accross the board.
You let people play Saints Row with a mic and you will automatically get your share of wannabe Gangsta's calling you "G" and copius ammounts of the N word.
Thats just a sad fact of life today. I'm just glad in a way that global wide research shows that the male sperm count is dropping at an alarming rate.

I never really understood this, I mean on the PS3 almost nobody has a microphone so how can you tell if they're ass holes?
Besides, as I've been saying for a really long time, the worst online community is and always has been on Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. In that game it's basically standard etiquette to be the biggest elitist self-absorbed douchebag you can. Anyone who has EVER played a game of Defense of the Ancients will agree with me.

I think that several of the consoles have good shooters and there isnt a "best" shooters as "best is a matter of preference.Legion IV said:

Every time I go on Xbox Live (it happens now and again) I see players get away with crap that would have them permanently banned from all the servers I play on PC games, other players don't even call them out on it. There is no admin to hammer them to ban-dom.
PSN players behave similarly, but make less noise so it's less grating.
Whether XBL's A-Holes are conciously aware of this is another matter, but they get away with a lot more on Live than elsewhere.
Rules and admins willing to enforce them keep the number of A-holes down, just look at the Escapist!
On Warcraft matter I agree, at least when I was playing on US server. Compared to EU server, it has more A-holes, because like after every death, people began fighting and swearing at each other, though I can't say that there aren't douchebags on EU server either, because that'd be lying and my mom taught me not to lie, but still... I'm glad that I didn't pay more than 15 euros for the game.DrHoboPHD said:

While I do agree that there will be douche-bags and morons anywhere you go on the internet, there does definitely appear to be a higher concentration of them on XBL. Particularly in the Call of Duty and Halo playerbases. You'll see approximately 80% of people with microphones are either morons or douche-bags, and often both.
I would say that it really doesn't matter how you connect to the internet. You will always find plenty of idiots in online games or whatnot. However, from my experience, there are many more immature kids on XBL than on PC or PS3. Just an observation from my point of view, but worth noting. And the free microphone deal also adds to it.
