So i picked doom 3 special edition(for 10 dollars), upon hearing it had something it should have had to begin with, coop. I'd heard this was a horror game, and even played a demo. Personally i don't think of myself as an overwhelmingly brave person, but when i have the arsenal of a small well funded militan army, and there are only a few starved looking demons between me and the credits, i'm not exactly pissing myself.
Ok so i start up the game, i wonder around waiting for all the characters to realize i'm not playing this game for the damn plot. Eventually everyone shuts up and instantly turn into zombies. Finally... for a second i'm having fun just plugging various zombies and the occasional imp. at this point i'm playing a mediocre shooter... So jump forward about 4 hours and 8 empty coke cans later, and i'm still waiting to even jump out of my seat. I wasn't expecting much, but damn it, i was at least hoping for my heart rate to increase a twinge. The monster eventually just become "how many bullets this particular guant... thing takes to die". thus the experience dulls for me. The only genuine moment of true bliss was when i picked up the minigun. This ended as soon as i accidently, while reaching for my flashlight, hit the goddamn PDA button by accident for the 5778th time and have to wait through all 4 loading screens it takes me to put the damn thing away. Oh, and who holds a PDA so close to their face that they can't see anything but the screen. That's damned unhealthy.
OK admittedly finding the chainsaw was a change of pace, but still, nothing that really over excited me. OK so i eventually find my friend Dennard, who i decide is a worthy teammate in my now 2 man battle against the legions of hell.
Unfortunetly i learn that there is in no fact no coop. The game misled me, the only coop there is is for the old retro Doom 1 and doom 2 that they have in the Extra menu (this is only in the deluxe edition). In all honesty, i had more fun jokingly blasting through the old retro game with a friend then i did playing doom 3.
Ok to wrap this all up, this game is not anywhere approaching condemned:criminal origins in fear. It also doesn't beat titles like Halflife 2 and painkiller in monster killing action. The plot they also try to feed down your throat is not nearly as good as the developers must have thought it was(judging by how seriously they seem to think the player must be taking it). All in all this is a totally skippable purchase... ok maybe if it's $10, but personally, i'd just go play system shock 2 again.

Your review was a bit breif. Maybe you could have reviewed all of the game. mMybe you could have touched on the sound and graphics or maybe the story (if it exists) and then had the lack of horror recurring through out the review.

Fairly good though.

That review was not so good.
It was too short, maybe you could actually have said something about the game instead of
"Sux, in other news..."

Not very good... It didn't cover the entire game, had grammar/spelling errors, and had poor sentence structure.

The biggest thing that miffed me though: Your over use of the word "OK". Can't you think of anything else to start a sentence with?

Things to do for next time -

Type it in a word processor to catch grammar/spelling mistakes.

Have someone proof read it.

Add more detail.

It was all right. Just add in more detail to the review like the others are saying, and adjust your style if need be in order to find the one that works for you. And please keep the South Park avatar.

There IS co-op. System Link or online. Your choice.
This was less of a review, and more of a rant. It covered very little of the actual game. Them again, if you're on a gaming site and have not finished Doom 3 yet, well, who are you to complain?
Just try being more informative, (rather then saying you're disappointed ten times) a reiew should give the reader some form of information to help form an opinion as to wether they want to play it or not.
Not everyone has 2 xboxs or an online connection in their basement *where my xbox is* and i did finish doom 3. It had an underwhelming ending in my opinion

Co-op, as an advertised feature, means my wingman should be able to sit right next to me in whatever pit we're gaming in, the sole requirement being an extra controller and an excess of free time.

I agree with you, but I wasn't aware one of Doom 3's selling points was the co-op...Guess that's what I get for not learning about it until a week after it came out :p.
Ok funny you should mention that but I actually bought it for the xbox so me and my roommate at the time could play it. Ok that didn't work out so well. Ok, initial section was good (if yahtzee-ish) but it quickly went downhill, plan your sections out, put down all your ideas and then condense them into a review. Ok this is just reads like a slew of ideas jotted down on a sticky note. Ok? Ok.

Seriously though. Edit it up then repost it. No one ever actually seems to do that.

Here's the guideline, assuming we're talking about the XBox version:

On the back of every XBox game, there are several boxes, some with green lettering, some with gold. The boxes with green lettering refer to the local features of the game, the gold lettering refers to the features over Live.

Therefore, if a game has "1 player" in green, and "co-op 2-4" in gold, then the co-op is only online. If the "Co-op 2-4" is in green, then it does splitscreen.

FYI.

EDIT: Although, in the case of Doom3, they may have snuck a green 2 player co-op thing in there on the grounds that Doom 1 and 2 can do it, and if they did, please disregard everything I just said.

My fault with this review is that it's biased and only notes the bad parts of the game. It doesn't go into anything that the game does right and I don't believe this game is so terrible that a review of it should consist of just the bad points. You should also not condemn a game for your mistake of it not having co-op; bioshock, mass effect and assassin's creed all don't have online but they're some of the best games out there.

Also, find some synonyms of OK to open a new paragraph, repetition is annoying and also repetition is annoying; on the other hand, repetition is annoying.

However, the points you brought up were valid and the presentation was acceptable thus I reckon it was a so-so review.

To the last guy... it was kinda just a decent shooter. For its time the graphics were good but thats almost expected of modern shooters. The creature design were just remodels of old creatures and the game didn't really push any envelopes...
