Hey all.

Just wanted to know if there were any fans of Dos games on here? I have a youtube channel that features several (I aint posting the channel name - not spamming you all lol).

I like the old dos games, some of them have alot more depth than todays games. Disagree? Your opinion.

Any fans of :

System Shock

Duke Nukem 3D

Shadow Warrior

Blood

Redneck Rampage

Carmageddon

I can't list all my favourites, but the above ones are brilliant games.

Hope there are some Dos game enthusiasts on here

Thanks for your time

Duke Nukem 3D was my childhood, I played the shit out of that game when I was little. Against my parents wishes of course. Last year I went to an anime con and John St. John (Duke's VA) was a guest there and I got it signed. That has to be one of my most prized possessions. Though since I was a kid at the time I didn't really have many games I called my own, I just played whatever my dad had though I think most were win98 games. Another one of my favorites would be Dungeon Keeper. Honestly I just liked making huge feeding areas since the chickens were so cute.

Voted for Doom because of the insane amount of time I put into those games. I really wish they would remake a bunch of the old dos games, update the sound and graphics but leave the gameplay EXACTLY as it was.

Honorable Mentions:

Afterlife - Sim City, except you build Heaven & Hell. Best Lucas Arts game ever IMO.

Myst - Really fun & at the time, prettiest puzzle, adventure game around.

Theme Park - Predecessor of Roller Coaster Tycoon.

Mechwarrior 2 - Fucking awesome, nothing else needs said.

TIE Fighter Wars - Second best space combat sim ever.

Descent - Like a cross between Doom & a space combat sim. Fun but hard and confusing to navigate.

What no Quake? That is like my fondest memory. Playing on my Dads laptop while on a road trip, with it plugged into the cigarette lighter.

Absolutely. That game was way ahead of its time.

Anywho... I voted Duke Nukem 3D. I wanted to vote for Wolf 3D, as it was my first FPS... but I think overall I probably had more fun with Duke at the time. I was young, so the immaturity of the game really suited my sense of humor at the time.

Wolfenstein 3D made me interested in games.
Doom made me a gamer. Hell, I just got done with a Master Levels of Doom II session not 15 seconds ago.

My vote's for you, Mr. Doomguy.

Duke Nukem was one of the games of my childhood. I didn't really get most of the humor (mostly because I didn'r speak much English), so that's not what I'm nostalgic about.

When people were anticipating Duke Nukem Forever, it seemed like most people remembered fondly different things than I did.

I just had fun with the weapons, levels, and all the stuff you could do.

I also played Doom 1 and 2, and have been playing them recently again. They are still good games. Outdated, but still fun.

However, Primal Rage was probably the PC game I played most (I was more of a console gamer with my Nintendo). It had dinosaurs in it, so it was awesome.

I also had a dinosaur educational game where you could move in a museum and resurrect dinosaurs by digging fossiles and putting skeletons together.

I played that a lot.

Wing Commander
I spent countless hours on wing commander, wing commander 2, and the expansion packs.

Also, X-Com: UFO Defense.

I've never been too keen on the FPS-- I played my share of doom 2 and a little rise of the triad, but it was never my forte. The original half life was gold, though.

Heretic.

That game was amazing because it was essentially Fantasy style Doom.

I also liked when you'd plug in the cheat codes for Doom it would punish you accordingly

(IDDQD - kills you)
(IDKFA - Takes away all your weapons and leaves you with a stick) :p

Loving some of these comments, its great to see so many fans of the gaming good old days.
There were so many I wanted to put on the voting poll, but I could only put a few on.
I have started re-playing Doom & Heretic (more so for my youtube channel). I realised today that with the ports of some of these games, they have made them alot easier to play.

"thiosk" - Never played Wing Commander or X-Com, may just feature those on my channel.

"WeAreStevo" - Yeah one of the main reasons I love Heretic - its fantasy Doom. Witchaven was also a similar game, hard as hell but great all the same.

I am getting some great suggestions here for Youtube and personal game time, will check out some of these later on in the day. Keep them comments and game suggestions coming!

system shock just needs mouselook and upgraded graphics and it would still wipe the floor with any game released now
Totally agree - I did remember seeing an updated version a while back with some extra features, I am so frustrated that I cannot remember "where" I saw it. :-(

Nice to see Rise of the Triads on that list! Unfortunately I'm obligated to vote for Doom because it's a game I still play to this day. If you'd asked in the 90s though, I'd have definitely said RotT.

Prince of Persia was brilliant, spent a huge amount of time on that in my childhood, along with Wolf3d and Doom. Being the iD fanboy I was all the Commander Keens were great.

Cyberdogs was good as well, and Catacombs of the Abyss.

Anything by Apogee with the platformers, Secret Agent, Duke 1 & 2 and Bio Menace.

Skyroads is worth a mention, along with a few Dizzys.

Loved the Dos days...

Doom. Of course! Doom is the best FPS for DOS. Doom FTW! It's dynamic, complex, never gets boring and always gives tons of action. CoD, watch and learn!

No Descent (mentioned earlier) is egregious. No Warcraft 1&2 (no RTS at all actually), no Blackthorne (or any other platformers), the list of games I'd rather choose is longer than the list you made.
