Go read his books, then come back and respond. Or, watch this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZG8HBuDjgc], then comment.

Lets see how many Escapist users like Douglas Adams...

I don't think i will because you can't even take the time to describe him and his style of writing to make it interesting for one who has never heard of him.

Sci-Fi nerdy humor with "infinite improbability drives" and the meaning of life being "42".

Yeah he's a good book but what's the point of this thread? Praising him? Your account is three years old your telling me you haven't noticed in that long that douglas adams work would be very much adored here?

Fantastic. I've read the Hitchhiker's series, and the Dirk Gently series, and when I was in elementary school I did an in-depth project on him. So yeah.

It'll be interesting to see where Colfer takes the series seeing how Adams left all the characters dead and didn't tell anyone how he planned to resurrect them for the next book. Tough job

He's the only author where I have gone way out of my way to get one of his books.
So Douglas in my books [small](Sorry)[/small] Is a great silly, silly man.

In my opinion, he pulled it off well, while reading 'And Another Thing...' I found myself forgetting that it wasn't Adams writing. Although that may be because it was years before that that I read any other of Adams' work.

OT: I love him, but I don't know many others in person that are familiar with his work.
I felt the jokes in 'and another thing' were too simple, and repetitive. Adams brilliant knowledge of science, and human nature allowed him to satirise a lot of things on a deep level. 'And another thing' was a good story, with interesting characters, that's what Coulfer does best. The limited jokes got in the way, though.

god! anyone who hasn't read the salmon of doubt is yet to experience the full potential of literature
'The Salmon of Doubt' was good. I wouldn't say it was the pinnacle of his career, though. And I hate the terrible ending, it's far too abrupt. You'd think he just dropped dead...
