If there is one thing I can't stand about games these days, it's DLC. All it is is a way for companies to milk money from players who just want more. I paid 60 damn dollars for my Modern Warfare 2, and now I'm supposed to dish out and extra 10 for some new maps? And I need to pay 10 bucks to play some stupid zombie game that should have been in Borderlands in the first place?

The only games I feel that have justifiable DLC are Rock Band and Guitar Hero. They're dishing out new songs every week, so it's not like they can give it to us all on the disc. But what about those stupid additions to other games? I already paid you money, why are you leaving a piece of the game out just so you can charge me for it later?

Well rant over....what do you guys think of it?

DLC is good if it gives enough content for the price.

If it doesn't, it doesn't belong.

DLC can be great, depending on the price and content. I bought the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned because I was so excited to get more Borderlands, but it turned out to be the worst purchase I've made in a long while. On the other hand, I bought all five of the Fallout 3 DLC, and I was completely satisfied with all of them.

I think its just another way for the companies to make money, so let em. Besides, we don't have to buy the DLC. It's really only with stuff like Halo and COD that they try to milk it and milk it effectively they do, because there about 90,000,000 fanboys out there willing to sell their grandma to play those games.

The Fallout 3 DLC was cool though. You can tell that they actually put work into it instead of taking it out of the game so you can pay for it later.
Map Packs on the other hand are absolute rip-offs.

DLC is stupid on XBL, here , give us money, and we give you crap!
Isn't that the same for things on the PS3 and PC as well? I mean Dragon Age Origins is charging money for download for their PC official DLC not mods.

Oh come on, DLC is probably one of the best innovations of this generation, you don't HAVE to get it, sheesh. For the rest of us, we can make decisions whether we think it is worth it.

If a company decided to make DLC for a game, it should be free. Has long has you payed for the full version of a game you should be able to experience EVERYTHING the game has to offer and not just a part of it.

Well as long as it's nice free DLC like tf2 (for us PC users) and l4d(2) it's nice, or if its like new campaigns or expansion packs like for oblivion. As long as it's good and reasonably priced i have no problems with DLC.

If it's something that should've been in the game in the first place, I'm not a huge fan. Otherwise, it's okay. I don't download DLC anyway.

I haven't got it yet, what ACTUALLY is in the DLC?

Care to share? =3

In older days, DLC to full games was called "mods". It can be justified only on consoles, where you can't modify games on your own. Plus, if game is merely a basic framework on which you hang all the downloadable content, it should cost less than 60 bucks.

I guess I'm more upset that sometimes things are just excluded from games for the sole purpose of making them DLC later; example, maps in call of duty.

Naw even the retail games should be free. I mean why should people get paid for working on games. It makes no sense.

I am not a fan. Back when I played Halo 3 they released a few shitty maps that I had no desire to purchase, then they update the online matchmaking lists so that to play the good game types you had to get the new maps. So I stopped playing, when a company ships a game that comes with a bunch of crappy maps and wants to sell you more, thats ridiculous. The maps it came with were terrible for the most part, there were a few good ones, I shouldnt have to pay extra to get a few good maps to play with friends.
I agree that sometimes there are good things that come out of DLC, at the moment I cant think of a single one, but im sure that there are a few.
Just dont give me an incomplete game and expect me to buy the rest of it seperately, thats just ridiculous.
