Right I was just playing COD 5 and I want to play the map packs, only they are rediculously overpriced on PSN, £7.99 each, for all 3 thats like £24, not far off a new ps3 game itself....what a ripoff, seriously whats these companies problem, they should give us DLC not sell it, sure if its like a proper expansion like fallout 3 dlc I don't mind, but maps?!?! And killing floor developers have sold 4 skins for characters! Thats just rediculous, I wouldn't mind the COD maps, only servers get taken up playing maps I can't, which is annoying....anyway yeah so do you bother buying?

The only game I've only ever splashed out on is the Rock Band series.

I used to get the odd Guitar Hero song but as its now flown down the road of the Emo (in my opinion), Rock Band just comes ahead with a far broader range of music thats suited to my tastes.

I think I've downloaded close to 30 songs from their DLC section.

I've never bought DLC, mostly because of the unkind price-to-content ratio. I just don't think a few extra hours of gameplay is worth one fourth of the price I paid for the original game. I mean, a lot of times the DLC adds maybe five percent more of the original game's content. Not to mention having to go through Windows Live (Microsoft points RRRRGGGHHH) or EA to get DLC for a game I bought on Steam.

If the price is decent enough then yeah I will buy, but if the price is really out there then no way in hell.

Yeah. I mean, I paid for all the Halo DLC. Money is where money is due. As far as I'm concerned I got my money's worth out of them. An example of money wasted was on Stranglehold DLC. Great! Expand my goddamn achievements for a game that no one plays online anymore. Fucking genius!

I voted "yes" but I want to qualify that a touch; I only buy DLC for games I really enjoy. A game that didn't impress won't get any more money from me, even if the DLC promises to fix what I didn't like. A game that has engaged me a lot already (notably Fallout 3 and the Halo series) however will see my money if the content piques my interest in the least.

Yes, I buy DLC. I also buy classic games on PSN.

And by the way, the World at War DLC is worth it. Believe me.

If I want it, but with its retardation of achievements, I am often avoidant of em. (Im an achievement whore and the random numbers is annoying, 1200 (mass effect) 1450 (fallout 3) 1750 (Halo 3 and the main culprit)
I like my 1000's and was ok with the 1250's

----TL,DR at the end----

If the amount of additional content seems substantial, I don't mind throwing down some extra cash for DLC. I think a few good examples of DLC that extend gameplay by a worthwhile amount are those that you will find with Fallout 3 or the recent Red Faction Guerilla. Things like extra costumes or a generic character don't interest me all that much, but I accept that there are those that enjoy that sort of thing. Regarding DLC costs, well, that is just something you will have to justify for yourself. People find some things more desirable than others would, and are willing to indulge in them with their wallets. To each his own.

Now, there are some DLC-related practices that I just despise. One, is DLC that could have reasonably been included with the game to begin with. It's that sort of crap that you find available as soon as the game is released (or shortly after). An example of this would be the "special/unique" units dlc pack for Empire: Total War (though, perhaps not the strongest example).

Above all, though, is promotional or console specific DLC. This sort of thing makes me want to vomit. I'll cite a few major examples, GTAIV, Fallout 3, and Batman Arkham Asylum. All three of these games are available on every major platform (cept little ol' Wii), yet large portions of each audience are missing out on some great content. Lost and Damned, Gay Tony, All of the Fallout 3 DLC (though I hear this may be remedied in the future), and the Joker Challenge missions. All of these are tied to one specific platform or another for no reason other than some developer/publisher's palms were greased with bribe money (probably a bit over-dramatic).

Regarding the Joker challenge missions for B:AA, this has the honor of also falling under the category of promotional reward content, right along with the Scarecrow missions for Gamestop preorders. "Buy for PS3, play as the Joker now! Oh, and if you preorder from Gamestop, play the Scarecrow missions too!". I could understand if these sorts of things eventually made it to the market for purchase by everyone, but in many situations this is just not the case ("you will miss out on this forever if you don't buy it from so and so"). Another example that took this to the extreme was Dawn of War II. There were so many different items/wargear and skins that were dependent on where you preordered from, that it would make your head spin. If you were a collector of these sorts of things, this situation was just rediculous.

----TL,DR----

Most DLC can be worth it in some form or fashion, but you just need to determine what that DLC is worth to you, cost-wise. Too much? don't pay. (EDIT: and by 'don't pay' I do not mean steal)

(The rest was just me bitching about 'evil' DLC)

Well nowadays DLC is created to be a pivotal part of the game even after its release. So a game that costs you £40 often ends up costing twice as much if you want all the content.

As someone who doesn't own a 360 or a PS3 and plays very few "modern" games, I don't. Maybe in a few years when I can try the more recent Call of Duty games.

I only purchase DLC if im positive its worth it. But I will never do it for a console game. (unless its a must have)

PC gets most of it for free anyway.
