This thread is a little addition to the "Dragon Age 3 -- no pressure?" Thread.
Somebody said there that the game will tank because of incredible expectations and i really don't think so, so i wanted to ask you guys.
For me, after Dragon Age 2, my expectations could not be any lower, so that's definetly not the reason i may have problems with Dragon Age 3.
And i don't think i am the only one here, so tell me guys.

Nope, it's not just you. I've stopped caring unless they go back to Origins style and non-voiced protagonist, which I doubt.

In short, unless people start bigging it up for the above on release I won't be buying at all.

Well, maybe at least Bioware will give you ME3 for free if you buy DA3 at full price...I'm not really selling myself here am I?

Bioware has acknowledged how disappointing DA2 was, and that they cut corners re: dungeon design.

So I expect DA3 to be MUCH better than DA2. All that remains to be seen is how it stacks up against DA:O.

Honestly, Bioware would have to try to make DA3 worse than DA2.

Especially after the shitstorm the last game caused.

I think it's better not to have any expectations regarding Bioware. If they want to surprise us with something good then great, but I'm not buying the hype anymore.

Pretty much this. Like I mentioned in the other topic, my reactions to their last three releases have been, in chronological order, "...what?", "No.", and "Well, they cut some corners, but this is still pretty gooWHATTHEFUCK?!". Also, EA.

I expect it to be mediocrity incarnate so it would appeal to a broader audience, per EA standards.

I was thinking the same, I'm also thinking I would love to see them try and make it worse.

Well, since Dragon Age 2 was "a pinnacle of role-playing games" and "what video games were meant to be", I don't think DA3 can top it. It can't get any worse either.

I'm expecting it to be somewhere between DA:O and 2. I don't think DA2 was as bad as people make out but it wasn't nearly as good as I found Origins, although I prefer DA2's combat (minus the random spawning of enemies). They did acknowledge where they went wrong and it's had a longer development cycle than 2 I'm optimistic it'll be good. Whether it's better than Origins remains to be seen.

I dunno, I'm still looking forward to it. I liked DA:O a lot and I haven't played DA2 but I'll still buy it regarding how lame I hear it is. So DA3 for me. Not expecting it to be life changing, but just fun.

I think it's going to be just another of those "lowest common denominator" things designed for short-term cash grabs. Oh but look, you push a button and something totally awesome happens!

Thought DA: O was pretty awful and the DA2 demo did nothing for me either so, I expect more of the same awfulness but perhaps more action based due to the whole Mass Effect-ing up every game they do now...ah well

My guess? Better than DA2, they'll improve on what they broke. Still, it won't be as good as DA:O, particularly due to the attempts at "broadening the appeal", which only serve to alienate core Bioware fans. The game will seem pretty good, but still have some major flaws and they will completely butcher it with a fucked up ending, which will toss the whole series out of the window. How's that sound?

It had better be goddamn good or I'm not buying it -_-

Captcha: 'plenty of time' Yes, Bioware, please take plenty of time to make it and don't just copy-paste maps

You might want to re-phrase that. Most people here would see that as like saying "On a scale of 1-10, I'd say it's somewhere between 1 and 10." Though I do agree that it wasn't as bad as people say, it wasn't good either. It wasn't worth the time and effort that people put into the constant hatred of it.

OT: I think it will be better than what the majority thinks of it. Chances are, people will find one thing wrong with it and exploit it into a giant cancer to make the game look like utter shit. None of the recent Bioware games have been as god awful as people like to believe, they're just okay. While I'll admit they're lackluster in comparison to old Bioware, mostly because of EA, but they haven't been just god awful. They're like Star Wars prequel bad, or new Indian Jones bad, not the worst thing on the planet, but pretty damn bad in comparison to the original stuff.

EA games, I expect rock bottom quality. Then again I don't plan to get it, after DA2, it would have to be a god send, confirmed by several people for me to get it on a discount.

I enjoyed both DA:O and DA2. I enjoyed origins more, but there were some things I liked more about DA2. I like the voiced protagonist It makes me get into the story more. I just find the silent protagonist to be off putting, and boring. I enjoyed both so I'm sure I'll enjoy DA3.
