Ok so I need a lengthy game to get me through the Christmas holidays and I've settled on Dragon Age: Origins (I know there's this game called Skyrim that everyones going on about, but not yet!)
No my question to you lovely people is should I get it for the PS3 or 360? I can't get if for my PC, it's kind of blown up (That's why there no Skyrim at the mo!)
So which should I go for?

EDIT: Ahh my poll! It's gone!
Ok just give me a nod, PS3 or 360!

Which do you play most on?

There's no need for any multiplayer, the DLC is the same price on each, so play which ever has the most comfortable controller for you.

I played it on 360.

Oh, and make sure that you are happy to play DA2 (if you ever decide to) on the same console, your save data is used for the sequel. Similarly to how ME2 does with ME.

PS3 to get half decent graphics, the game looks old enough on PC and on 360 even that is washed down to the bare working minimum.

And for the love of god don't touch DA2.

Ugh, honestly, it does not matter unless you're a fanboy.

And you don't want to be a fanboy, now do you?

I'm a big fan of the Mass Effect series, seeing as how DA is by the same developers I thought I'd give it a go

And what wrong with being a fan buy (or girl)?
you're one of the biggest Skyrim fanboys I've seen on these here forums!

No, no, no, I meant console fanboys, since you were asking what console to get it on. Heck, I LOVE Dragon Age. I'll prove it, too. "I enjoyed the second one better."

And I am not a fanboy. I just appreciate masterful milestones in video gaming culture and history. (/sarcasm(?))

Hey, don't beat yourself up. I'm only just now starting my second cup... and I've been up all night! ^_^

OT: though, enjoy yourself. Dragon Age is pretty baws. REally kinda reminded me of Baldur's Gate, but modernized. And I LURVE me some Baldur's Gate.

get Dragon Age 2 instead. DAO is your same generic 'save the world' story. Don't touch DAO, but if you have to, get PS3 version

Really a shame you can't have it on your PC, I'm fairly certain that the PC version allowed you to zoom out more and see more of the battlefield. But i can't remember hearing of any differences between the PS3 and Xbox 360 ones, so i guess you could just blind pick. Either way, you're getting an awesome game !

Worse FPS. I guess it looks better/sharper/whatever, but the framerate is awful. There's a noticeable stutter whenever you move the camera anywhere. The framerate is much better on the 360.

or it was the other way around.
I'm pretty sure I read something about ps3 version being vastly better, o my poor little head...

OP should get PC version if he can, it has this amusing over-the-top view which I never use.

I'd heard the same thing, so I went with the PS3 version first, but the framerate was so distracting that I immediately got rid of it and got the 360 version instead. The differences in textures/graphics are minor at best, but the difference in framerate is significant. I don't know how anyone can play the PS3 version.

The game is a lot less difficult on a console. I got DA:O on PS3 at first because my video card had fried shortly before it came out. Then got it again on PC after I replaced it.

Restarting the game on PC, I was stunned as to why I was getting totally wrecked very early on in the game (As early as Lothering). I played both PC/PS3 version on Normal, made the exact same character, used the exact same party members, but I was totally sucking at it. Until I remembered the game stressing the importance of combat pausing to issue orders for the entire party (Something I really didn't do all that often on the normal difficulty on PS3) And even then, by using all my combat orders to their full potential, I would still barely survive a lot of fights.

Although I'm sure you can bump the difficulty up on console to match the PC version, the console version was a lot more forgiving and easier to get in to.

My experience with the PS3 version were okay. The game "felt" like it needed to be played on PC the entire time (Although that might be my own comfort playing on PC talking) it was still very playable the entire time. I never got to experience turning the difficulties up or down either, but the Normal difficulty is definitely a lot easier on you than it was on PC.

As for the comparisons between PS3 and 360. I hear the PS3 version offers better textures, color, and facial animations. Framerate drops were occasional but not very noticeable, and not horribly annoying (I guess I'm used to Bioware RPG's having horrible framerates ever since experiencing KOTOR on xbox.) Not sure about the framerates on 360.

I guess you can't really go wrong with choosing the game on either system.

I played it on the 360 as the PS3 controllers are waaaaay to tiny and always made me think I was a giant

Well, figures, i guess ( I mean the difficulty setting thingy). Tho I do have to agree that the game had some difficult moments on normal, tho I played a fighter (I've heard that playing as a rogue can be the most difficult). But yeah, i did pause the game a lot, especially in the nastier fights. But it was all good fun in the end, and a great gaming experience.
Also, mind if i ask, but is there any chance you're Estonian? Cause your user name is sorta a word in Estonian.

hahaha your hilarious.
I'd chose an epic plot where you can recruit and band together different races to defeat a greater evil then... well w/e the hell da2s was lol. Seriously this guys had no purpose at all and barely had anything to do with the first game, the wardens, and the blight. Now if it changes in the end and suddenly gets good i still dont care. Because after 20 hours i gave up on that steaming turd ;)

Wow i get ranty in the morning i apologize, but still mean it.

OP: Ps3 all the way; faster load times, better graphics, smoother overall.
