Oh dear. Well, just take care on slopes and uneven terrain. Can't have the Arisen breaking a hip or something. XD
He's gonna be around his late 40's or about 50 so...he's not gonna be TOO old. But, it's still Far older then i normally play my characters.
no make him 70. Arthritic Grandpa to the rescue!!
Captcha: I like you. I should be careful first it's,"I like you" then ZAP frog time.

I had mine a 65-year-old wrinkle infested boogie-monster who hides in children's closet.

Then I started a new file, where I played as a 6-year old, abandoning clothes for the most part.

However, i had no clue about the romance sub-plots...umm, is there anyway to avoid it or is that kind of a no-go?
AppleShrapnel is right that it's a motivational plot device, but it's less about anyone's feelings than about how you define your character by her or his actions in a given situation. You can't avoid it, but you don't have to see it as some kind of OTP if you prefer to think of your character as independent.

Regarding your character's build, I know you've decided, but keep in mind for future playthroughs that the character's size and weight will affect how he/she handles. Give an 80-lb runt a huge two-hander if you like, but you'll have to learn how to fight around the physical awkwardness it will cause. It can be done--and it's often entertaining--but it will probably slow your story progression a bit. Age is less of a game-changer, but you still have to spend many hours (and cutscenes) looking at what you make. I'm thinking of making a spry old crone (strider/ranger) at some point, but it will mean avoiding some quest lines because, um, ew.

PS--Nier is awesome! Glad you tried it.
Indeed it is awesome. I only played it initially because it was a pseudo-sequel to Drakengard (Aka. The most fucked up yet awesome modern JRPG ever). And, upon actually playing Nier? Some small issues in gameplay aside: The story, voice-acting, characters and Soundtrack were AMAZING!

But yeah, shame most of the votes only came in a bit after my decision but hey. I'll always have another playthrough to go through if i remember so..i'll give it a go then.
Anyway, yeah, Nier was alot of fun. So hey, making another late 40's man wielding a two handed sword is nothing if not cool.

Something else to consider; as great as kid characters [can] look, they suffer from an innate lack of speed, due to their short stature. It isn't that bad, but to illustrate- if one of your pawns is the minimum height while you aren't, they'll constantly lag behind... on the other hand, if you're a kid, that won't really be an issue. It'll take some indeterminate percentage of time longer to go places, but if you're patient (or better yet, make your first character a kid, so you won't notice the difference at all), it's all right.
This is what I thought at first, too. But unfortunately, we were both wrong. Movement speed is actually based upon weight class, rather than your character's height.

So even little children can outrun full grown men. :/

Basically, your character's weight class affects how quickly they move, how quickly they expend stamina, how quickly they regenerate it, maximum encumbrance.

Movement speed sucks for me because I'm always a fuckin' giant when I play male melee type characters.

Only advice I have is this, if you pick a Warrior, the game changes to permanent easy mode.
As well if you are a warrior, make sure your character is big so they can carry all the heavy armor and obligatory huge frakin' weapon.

But... I was... and she... and that guy was all like...

This foot in my mouth tastes terrible. Oh well, at least it's mine, I guess. ._.

Makes sense, too. My mini-mage girl was likely "super small", but I may have had her loaded down with items or something, for her to be lagging behind all the average/tall people.

Really, or does warrior just suit your play style better? I'm not asking sarcastically. I'm asking because I played strider/ranger the first time and switched to fighter/warrior later with all the shiny New Game + buffs, and I still think it was easier playing as a skinny, under-leveled bowman. Warrior is a nice class, but I prefer it for my main pawn.

I in kind am not stating this sarcastically, but no, I don't believe it's just me. Warriors get insane augments that allow them to do monumental amounts of damage, and take that same kind of damage with nary breaking a sweat. Even magic, which is supposed to be my weakness, isn't that threatening because of all the HP I have.

Honest to god that's been my experience with the warrior.
A one man/woman wrecking ball.

I see your point. It makes me appreciate my main pawn all the more for making my life easier: he gets to tank against the ogre while I shoot the snow harpies. Works for me.
