In theory they should work, but in practice your most likely to shoot yourself.

Works in the games that don't even make the attempt to be realistic. Can be fun and at times even advantageous.

But if someone suggest its got anything to do with real life, I'm going to scream.

In real life, it sucks and doing it makes you look like a bit of a tosser, because you sure as hell don't look cool flailing around and missing. In real life, it's blatantly obvious that if you want to fire quickly and accurately, you use one gun help properly so you can use the sights and keep the gun on target while you're firing.

So the more realistic the game, the stupider having dual wielding is.

I don't care about duel wielding pistols. I just want to duel wield .50 cal sniper rifles in Modern Warfare 2.

Only if it's shotguns.

Because that doesn't make sense.
How about rocket launchers?
I don't know if there is a game in which you dual weild rocket launchers, but that'd be a damn good game.

It may take away the iron sight, but you've got 2 guns dammit, there's like a 10% chance you'll miss.

you reload slower when dual wielding and i think they ruin a game because you can't aim down the sights
I most like dual swords/axes/clubs/spears, like in Fate or Titan Quest.

And if you must talk about guns, then I can say that Tomb Raider does not have those problems, the only series I've played with dual guns.

So yes, dual wielding is awesome.

Only if they're weapons that make sense withing the context of the game. Dual-wield pistols is ok, dual wield M16s are not

Dual wielding because awesome to me when I got the Dual Raptor upgrade in Ratchet: Deadlocked...if only all dual wield guns had bullets that reflected off surfaces...>.> and multi-colored bullets at that ^.^

The reloading issue is the drawback for dual wielding...all guns have to have some kind of drawback...like the M16's burst fire in CoD4(despite it's power, burst isn't so good in a close range fight >.>), the Doom Blade's weak attack in R&CF: ToD, the Longbow in RE5 (no laser sight can screw you up if you're not good with it >.>), etc, etc

I don't really care. Sometimes its an advantage in games, other times, its just a useless perk.

Two fast swords are better than one big slow sword.
History tends to say otherwise... Reach and armor penetration are very important, ergo one big sword.
