a lot of it is kinda shitty, but some of it is legitimately good. Music that properly incorporates Dubstep into the music, rather than just inserting generic dubstep music, can be pretty good. I'm trying to remember the band I heard recently that had some songs with dubstep in them i actually liked,

I love dubstep. I used to hate it, I could never get into the rhythm of all the fast sounds. But now, however, it's fucking awesome, all the aggressive and fast-moving rhythms get me going. I think its an acquired taste and once you get into it you like it, but if you don't then you won't get any enjoyment out of it whatsoever. It's obviously not a deep genre of music, that's not the point of it. You don't have to listen to 'deep' music all the time. I very much enjoy a lot of music that I think would be considered deep.

Honestly, I liked it before it became mainstream. I have since moved on to other more niche musical movements. The coolness has moved on and I am moving with it

This is some old dub.

I never got Midnight Request Line. There's some good rhythms going on but otherwise the lack of a real drop disappoints me.

Here's a couple of my old favourites:

There's a bit of it I like, there is more of it I don't like, but generally I don't really know much about it. It's that way with most music genres: I like some groups or songs, but I don't like or dislike the entire genre.

I'm not sure what dubstep is to begin with, but I assume it's some electronic shit.
Not a fan of that kind of music, so I doubt I'd like it.

It's like a cheese grater on a blackboard. Don't get me wrong;I enjoy techno and electronica, for the most part, but so far every dubstep song I've listened to sounded just as I had described. And I only know it was dubsteb when the author of the song described it as dubstep. Quite frankly,I hear no difference between dubstep and other forms of techno.

This is the stuff I listen to:

It's a mix of Dub and Dubstep that is more to my liking... You find stuff like this on the 'Sound of Dubstep' albums sometimes, which is where I first found it. Not your 'mainsteam' wub wub sound, (which I will listen to on occasion) but this I much prefer!

I'm too old to give a shit about music really, it's all pretty much slipped into the "don't care, irrelevant" bracket. I didn't realise it was the "in thing" for kids but then I've not really cared about that for a long time either.

A friend of mine was still into parting and what not a few years ago when it was still just making itself a bit more heard of in the UK (or at least the bit I live in which is about 3 years behind the rest) so he was buying a playing it in a few venues and the majority of the attendees all looked uncomfortably young to me. It's worrying when you think 18-20 year olds look about 16...although on another level it's quite a relief to find out they are older.

I like it but I'm not in wub with it.

It can be great for just tripping out to, but it doesn't make good background music, and it's no fun to dance to.

Also, its hard to find dubstep songs (are they really songs?) that don't flat out suck. Either that or I am not trying very hard.

You must be one of these people.
Essentially, but with the superiority complex of one who can type in correct English.

In fairness, I grew up with happy hardcore and gabba influences so I'm more of a fan of the bass-heavy electro. I can appreciate the rhythm-based side of things for the quality but I'd much rather be stomping to something well-produced and with a great drop.

It tends to be very repetetive, even more so than trance because it tends to use one and the same effect over and over while other genres allow for more creative freedom?
I don't know. I find a genre that is defined by the usage of 1 effect rather silly.

It's alright, fun to listen to every now and then, but like most music, it gets very annoying when I've heard the same fucking thing on the radio 3 times in one day.

Chuck it into a playlist with a wide range of music and I'll be more than happy to listen to it.

usually identifiable by its heavy use of base and such....sutff that sounds kinda like this

its nice that you don't like electronic music but don't call it shit or imply that dubstep represents the entire genre.. you'll only piss people off that way (you'd have to be deaf to not tell the distinct different between dubstep and house)
