Alright, I'd really like some help with this. It may seem like a no-brainer, but please bear with me...
I play Xbox 360. Always have, ever since '08. Its just me, but I like the idea of having a dedicated piece of equipment to run my games on without having to deal with things that I hear about like SecuRom or other such things I have heard that makes it hard on PC gamers like yourselves.
Now, onto the subject of the topic: Duke Nukem Forever. The game I have been waiting patiently for along with the rest of the world. It's coming out in North America on June 14th. June 14th. That is the exact date I'm supposed to get on a plane to go on vacation to Hawaii. Now, here's the conundrum: I could wait a week, then buy the game a week later for the Xbox 360 and play the game for three days before I leave for my summer semester at college, or I could buy the game off of Steam and play it on my laptop during the 15-hour plane ride to Hawaii.
Seems like a no-brainer, right? But here's my concern; the laptop I have is a factory-new Sony VAIO F-series laptop. I've tried a few games on it, and it seems to run last-gen (console-wise) titles quite fine on high settings, but I recently got a more recent game (Splinter Cell Conviction) off of Steam to see what would happen if I tried out a more recent game on it. Turns out that-well, its not as framey and laggy as the Crysis demo was on my piece-of-junk tower computer, but it's still sometimes jolts me out of the experience a bit whenever I play it- even on low settings. So, the question I pose to you, reader: What do you think the better DNF experience (the one we've been waiting for for QUITE a long time) would be: playing a 15-hour game for three days on a dedicated console, or play it the day it comes out with all time in the world on a not-so-dedicated laptop?
This question has been festering in my mind for a bit, now. I would just like to hear some opinions that aren't my own. (Constructive opinions? Plz?)
