Also, Qui-Gon and Maul both died in that sequence the last time I saw The Phantom Menace. What movie were you watching?
Maul didn't die, do the research. He comes back for vengeance later on, with robo legs.
You're counting that crappy lore ruining tv series as canon? Wait is that show canon now it ruined so much to make it more appealing to kids (I mean laser bows...really?)?
Yeah. I thought it was pretty ok, and would watch a marathon of it if it was on anything anymore. Although I liked the movie they did to start it off and most people who talk about it say it's terrible.
Well pretty sure that show is coming to adult swim on saturday nights

Also I can find a fair number of good things the show did, but damn did they have to screw with pre-existing stuff that much?

Okay, I'm worried about the EA part of all of this.
They would and probably will screw up any Star Wars game series.

BUT if there is some miracle and they make it good, I would love to see a new entry in the Jedi Knight series.
OR ... a sequel to Republic Commando. :p

If they make a good Rogue Squadron game, they can butcher every other franchise for all I care.

...Well, I'd prefer they not, but....

Republic Commando. I want to see Delta Squad again dammit! ;_;

Though really, if they want to do something [comparatively] unique with Star Wars I know I'd love to see them use a different tech level for once[footnote]Pet peeve of mine, really. Suffice to say that my enjoyment of the game itself aside, the knowledge that KoTOR is set nearly 4000 years before Yavin and yet uses nigh-identical technology bugs me to no end[/footnote]. And I certainly wouldn't shed a tear if I didn't see another "Totally-not-the-Millenium-Falcon-but-it's-pretty-much-the-Millennium-Falcon-with-a-different-chassis"

My only request is that whatever game they make should stay as far away from the movies and events from the movies as possible.

There is a whole universe of things to see, do, and explore, but more often than not they insist on doing things either during or shortly after the time-span of the movies. I get it, Lucas loved marketing the living hell out of his franchise, especially anything related to the movies and their toys, but he's not in charge anymore and it's time to try different things.

TIE Fighter! I still play it whenever I get a hankering to blow up some rebel scum! TIE Defenders rule! I haven't found any space fighter sim as fun or entertaining since then. I felt like a traitor playing X-Wing.
You only like the Tie Defender because you never managed to fly the Avenger right. That was the best mission in the game, where you prove that the Tie Advanced was every bit as capable as the flying death machine Defender.
I liked the Avenger and I was really good with it, I just prefer the larger magazine, increased firepower and better shields of the Defender as well as the Defender being faster.

Yea. But really, the constant war, changing empires and republics and Sith overlords, Jedi Leaders.. It's no wonder technology hasn't advanced very much. Plus that hull seems to be fairly reliable, you could compare it to the I believe it was pre-Mach Planes used in the Korean War or it might have been the Vietnam War.. I forget, against the American Jets to great effect. You could make something new and flashy, but sometimes tried and tested things work better.

Not KOTOR because Bioware would ruin it. Give that to Obsidian.

Space sims would be nice but they'd probably charge you to unlock more ships.
I would rather see both Bioware and Obsidian work on KOTOR 3. Bioware could write the characters and Obsidian could write the story. The only people that should be head writer are Drew Karpyshyn, Joss Whedon, or both.

I want another Republic Commando game that takes place during Order 66. Sev sniping a Jedi Master would be cool to see. Perhaps have it span in the Galactic Empire era with Delta Squad training the Empire's commandos.

I'd be on board with Jedi Knight. As long as they put the focus on a lengthy single player campaign, I think it can best combine modern tech with Star Wars trademarks. I mean games like Tie Fighter and X-Wing Alliance are classics, but it would be kind of overkill building just that with modern AAA game budgets and technology.

Now this is still a big part of the 'Star Wars' experience, but what I'm saying is it should be included as part of the standard game. Think Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire for the N64, where you had on-rails flying segments. Do that, but take it off rails and make it open like a proper space sim. Strategy and RPG games can be good too, but in my opinion a great Star Wars game should be about blasters, light sabers, and X-Wings/TIE Fighters.

That said for the life of me I can never figure out why they didn't add a space combat element into The Old Republic. Too concerned about making it like WoW I guess...

Definitely bring back Rogue Squadron or TIE Fighter. Been a while since we've had a proper dog-fighter.

And I agree with space fantasy. There's no way things could work like this based on what we know of the universe (which Star Wars is set in, just a different galaxy). You actually see so few humanoids killed with lightsabers too, it's pretty much droids. I would also like an explanation, however, to how blasters kill people when you never see their armor get penetrated.
I've watched the films numerous times. No other research needs to be done.

Just because some glorified fan fic writer decided to bring him back for some convoluted plot line (I'm guessing this is the "research" to which you're referring) doesn't mean he wasn't supposed to have died when that scene was filmed.

So much of Star Wars doesn't make any logical sense. It wasn't a scientifically researched film?it was meant to be Saturday Morning Serial Drama. You know ... for kids!

I remember when I was a kid, my cousin was convinced that Stormtroopers were actually supposed to be robots. It took me for ever to explain to him that if that were the case, how could Luke and Han have borrowed their armor?

~Cheers!

I am laughing SO hard right now. Star Wars, the simultaneously most beloved and most abused franchise is being handed over to EA the notorious game rapist. I want EA to produce a game centered around the Gungan culture that makes Jarjar Binks the central character and where you can buy midichlorian injections to enhance your force powers like in WoW. I also want it to have crossovers with the AVP and Star Trek universes.
I think this is exactly what EA is working on right now. Oh, except for the Ewoks. You can't forget those.
