Here's the glaring problem I'm seeing a lot of people cause in this topic.A People are saying :
1. "Early access shouldn't be reviewed"
2. "It's up to the consumer to do research on the game, not a review"

If no one should review it, How does a consumer get any info on the game?!?!

Going by user reviews and Forum moderation on steam, On a good day Air traffic control and Earth 2066 could have looked like a good game since the devs were able to mod and delete comments and had friends write stellar reviews for their game. There is 0 chance a consumer can make an informed purchase without a legitimate review or reviews to back them up.

Betas are when input/feedback matter most, as the purpose is to literally prepare the game for official release.
That's been true of Betas since the term was invented.

All games merit criticism, no matter what stage of development they (or aren't) in.
But it's the kind of attitude one approaches the game with that matters.

For a beta, telling a developer that their game is shit and unfit to go to market might be technically true, but that's information they already know and extremely unhelpful towards the purpose of a beta.

Ideally, I'd say hold the "harsh" criticism until the developer proves to be exceptionally antagonistic or greedy.
Of course, now that I've said "ideally" the point is automatically moot anyway.
