They are terrible for you and many times are nothing more than a placebo. Having said that, I will drink them if I am absolutely shattered and need to stay awake. Any help I can get.
Nothing more than a placebo? Monster has like, twice as much sugar as mountain dew and more caffeine than coffee, how is that a placebo?

I drink monster for the taste, so sugary.
There is not more caffeine that coffee, coffee is about 140 mg / cup, compared to most energy drinks that are larger, but contain less / ml. (http://www.energyfiend.com/the-caffeine-database)
True, but what about all the non-caffeine stimulants? I haven't researched it, because I don't really care all that much, but I've heard that guarana and some of the other ingredients in energy drinks are stimulants that are as powerful or more powerful than caffeine.

EDIT: also remember that coffee will have variable levels of caffeine based on what beans you use and how long it's brewed for.

The poll isn't adequate. There's not a way it could be. There are at least three different brands that I usually choose over RedBull.

But yeah, I'm a heavy consumer of energy drinks. Have been for about eight years.

I hate all three of those. The only ones I drink are Bawls and Venom. I rarely drink them because they're expensive and don't do that much for me. Although, 5 Hour Energy is actually pretty good.
five hour energy is a three dollar 1.9 Oz. bottle of coffee, coffee which you could get more of and for cheaper
Yes but I don't like the taste of coffee and I like 5-Hour Energy. I don't ever get it anyway since I much prefer Venom or Bawls.

mmmmmm.....

I love the occasional energy drink, not for energy though, just the great taste!

Anyway I voted for Monster because that is by far my favourite out of the options.

The total caffeine listed is how much there is. Taurine is not a stimulant, and sugar again is not a stimulant.
It is true the amount of caffeine is variable though. My brewing technique ensures max caffeine output.

this is my story. the story of how I drank energy drinks and lost. I lost horribly. ill make the intro quick. i frank energy drinks got an eight cm kidney stone. then....welll. buckle up.

I had to have invasive kidney surgery on a kidney stone that had started to grow into my ureter(thing between kidney and bladder). the surgery involved taking a laser strapped to a camera and sticking it inside my penis and weaving it through my insides to reach the kidney where they lasered(technical term) it into as small of pieces as possible making it feel like ground up glass. The surgery was supposed to take an hour and a half at the most. Mine took over three and a half hours. I wake up in my room and stumble into the bathroom. I try to pee and my knees buckle from the pain of passing finely ground stone through my very sore penis. My head smashes against the toilet and I pass out.

Three weeks later I have to go get the stint removed. this involves shooting a numbing agent into my penis then folding over the tip and clamping it shut with a clip. It was numb so it didnt actually hurt physically, just psychologically. They then had to go back inside with a camera to take the stint out. Like I said penis was numb, insides were not. I would describe the pain as feeling like your being stabbed from the inside out. I could literally feel the camera inching its way through my insides until it got to the stint where the doctor had to manually maneuver the camera to unhook the loops holding the stint in and then yank it back out.
Im very sorry you had to go through that much pain but this is precisely the reason your not supposed to drink to much.
It sucked but I survived. the thing about kidney stones that make them something you want to avoid getting is how they are formed. The more bad shit you take in the more sediment ends up in your kidneys then when you get dehydrated it causes the sediment starts to clump together. If your drinking something like an energy drink(which dehydrates you) then the sediment will continue to clump together in a mass that will eventually try to work itself out. the kicker is that energy drinks are full of the chemicals that tend to find there way down to your kidneys. those cans are just a Molotov of fuck you juice at the end of the day.
never hear that about coke drinkers, and besides you really really over did it if you had to have invasive surgery
didnt overdue it at all. I had to sit with it for roughly 4 and a half months do to the fact that if you dont have insurance in america and your life isnt in danger they wont do surgery without having the full cost up front. There were other (noninvasive) options that can be taken to get a kidney stone removed but they were more expensive.

You seem to have missed out on the best energy drink of them all:

I prefer the one on the left, the Bawls G33K B33R. Unlike other energy drinks, you don't get that strange after-tastes. I love me some Bawls though. I haven't tried the cherry Bawls yet but the regular is also really good.

I prefer regular soda though in general. It's cheaper and generally tastes better to me. Surge and Vault may count as energy drinks though...and both are awesome.

I've tried every kind the convenience store in my town offers. Nothing works for me. I work odd hours, and sometimes need to some energy... but sadly, its never done much. A few bites of a granola bar or some peanut butter crackers do the trick.

I basically only drink water now. I'm really not big on energy drinks, I used to drink Samedi and Wicked, but they tripped me out, gave me crazy dreams.

I'm not kidding, I think Samedi may've been taken off the market for being a hallucinogen, or it might've just been the horrible taste.
