I have a question to ask all those on escapist a favour really do you think 30 minutes of intense running each morning, 40 minutes running each weekend day and a 2 hour weights session is enough to keep fit?

Um the 2 hour weights is more consistent of circuit training such as tred mill, bench press and core muscles as well as dead lift and high pulls just so you know - and I tend to give myself Wednesday off because thats the day of weight traning/circuits - I am simply doing it to ward off getting a bit of fat and staying pritty thin (idr care about keeping my 6 pack) - I have asked this because I am giving up rowing and am setting up a new regime to stay in shape.

I'm pretty sure thats enough to keep you fit.

Careful though, I heard intense running can mess up your joints.

Depends on your diet and your end goal of physique.

Assuming you're eating a stable 2000-2500 calorie diet and don't eat unhealthy foods on a daily basis.

and assuming your goal is simply being healthy and being "in shape" rather than being "built" I would say you're doing plenty to stay "fit". Hell, you're doing more than I'm willing to do, but I'm a lazy person who likes food too much.

You need to have a day off running or muscles don't repair properly leading to you actually getting worse.

2 hour weight session means you're not putting in enough "umph" 30 minutes should be more than enough to shred your muscles.

Also what are your goals? PT (Personal Trainer) in training, I might be able to help out.

It's more than I do, and I'm a bit fatter than average.
So, it should be fine for keeping in shape.

2 hours of weights is counter effective as testosterone levels start to fall after an hour.

If your protein and carb intake is sufficent you should be fine.

I'd say it'll keep you in more than adequate shape, provided you JUST want to be in shape and aren't training for some sort of event...

As long as you have a good pair of running shoes and alternate your weight training, it sounds like a good routine.

Thats definetly enough. That might actually be a bit too much. I've decided to take up rowing with my friends on the weekends,is that a suitable exercise?

Yeah, I agree with all of this.

If only I was disciplined enough to actually do exercise and keep myself in shape...

My Split:
Mon:Chest/Forarms
Tue:Back/Bi
Wed:Cardio (45mins)
Thurs:Shoulder/Tricep
Friday:Legs
Sat-Sun:Cardio inc abs

You're macro breakdown is the most important factor however - High Protien/Med Carbs/Low Fat works for most.

Producing muscle is one of the most energy consuming functions of the body - plenty of times where I've been over 200lbs I've been able to munch 5k+ calories on a leg day maintaining bf %.

Tredmill on the Wednesday is no good, as you are still working your legs, the muscles can't rebuild, if you are using it as a more circuit based session, I recommend "Supersets" doing two opposing muscles exercises back-to-back then resting for about a minute for example Dumbbell bench press and reverse flies, bicep curls and triceps push downs, seated dumbbell shoulder press and pull ups (murder btw), crunches and supermen etc. You do need to stop using a certain muscle group at least once a week or else like I said, that group won't be able to repair and will start to deteriorate, you make get better cardio wise, but, you legs muscles will be ruined causing a lot of problems

It's enough to keep you fitter than 85% of the population at large.
But not meeeee!

Yeah it'll keep you fit, but I'm pretty sure that if you do it every single day you end up with problems. Be aware of how your body is reacting, and if you start getting tired for no reason, BACK OFF.
