The Hobbit movies did a lot of stupid crap like that.

Remember the go pro footage they used to capture the river chase sequence from the barrel's perspective? It's the single stupidest, most baffling, directing decision I've ever witnessed, and I've watched all of The Room.
Have you ever watched the extended editions? Especially of the first one? It's almost surreal. There's an entire song and dance routine at goblin town that made me seriously wonder what movie I was watching. Then you remember that it probably took millions of dollars to film that sequence, and you have to wonder how nobody there said, "Um, excuse me? Guys? Isn't this just a little bit stupid?"

Also, chrome doesn't like quotes for some reason, so this entire post may be a mess because I had to do it manually.
That was actually lifted directly from the book, it was supposed to be sung by the goblins when the dwarves were being dragged down down down down to goblin, and was put in there to lighten the mood a bit. In fact, I absolutely love the song, and is one of the things that I remember the most about the book. The movie absolutely butchered it though, trying to make it this weird... Metalish, song that sounded way too dark for what was supposed to lighten the way, and not only that, but they didn't even have marching beat which is important to the song because it was supposed to be sung when the dwarves are going through the forced march. The Rankin-bass version actually did a much better version of the song.

Honestly? I didn't even notice it until after I watched a Cinema Sins episode.
Now every time I hear it makes me laugh, it is just so lazy and overly done. I usually shows up in cartoons too which is even funnier.

No no, see...this is why we CAN have nice things. It's just that 'Nice' got defined in a surprising fashion.

Yeah, I'm starting to find it pretty distracting and overused. These days I just roll my eyes whenever I hear it.

I usually don't mind it unless it's done exceptionally poorly. I also watch very few movies so I haven't been really bombarded with it yet.

On a side note, that poll looks like a hand giving everyone the finger.

Meh... It's better than actually hearing someone scream... Plus, it's "fake" enough to make you remember that what you're watching is fictional and not real...

It's stupid and cheesy. Burn it from film-making forever please.

I think that it's really stupid, and I can't believe that they still use it in movies. It ruins the immersion.

I only laugh at it in movies that are already terrible for other reasons. Nowadays it kind of spoils the broth of a good soup movie a little bit. Nothing irreparable and I can pretty much instantly forgive it but anything that takes audience out of the movie for the sake of a tired in-joke should probably be retired for a good decade.
