Yesterday was my birthday (turned 20 if you're wondering), as well as one of my cousin's, a friend from high school, and Simon Pegg as well. So, that got me wondering: who else here is born on a holiday? Does the fact that you were were born on a holiday effect the celebration of your birth?

Stuff like that.

For me, it has effected how my birthday was celebrated, as my mother would most often make a cake in the shape of a heart (or for the last few that I've had with her, she bought a heart shaped strawberry shortcake that I'd keep reminding her that I hated), and I'd get a bit more Valentine candy than my brothers, and every once and again, a teddy bear. In school, people tended to give me the same slacked jawed response when they found out I was born on Valentine's Day, and one time someone took pity on the fact that everyone else in the school had gotten some sort of Valentine gift and I got nothing, so they gave me one of their Pixy Sticks.

So, you?

Nope, however two of my friends were also born on Valentine day as well.

Ah, yes I was born on the Romanian Flag Day, the most important of holidays.

But for the big holidays, my sister's is Boxing Day and my gran's was Hogmanay. And I have a friend who shares his birthday with Hitler (April 20) if that counts.

Technically, yes. I was born on the 2nd of June, which is the Queen's Coronation Day. It's not a holiday in the sense you get the day off each year, but it is the day we celebrate the Queen's Jubilee (Diamond this year, although the 2nd of June is a Saturday, so there's Bank Holidays on the Monday and Tuesday afterwards. And I have exams those days. Sigh.)

Well, Princess Diana died on my 3rd (I think) birthday. That count?
Oh, and add my brother to that list of Valentines babies.

My birthday floats around Thanksgiving. Occasionally they're the same day.
It's pretty awesome to have your whole family and extended family all sort of trapped into coming to your birthday AND not having them overly focused on you. Hooray for free stuff!

I was born on Christmas Eve, and while we celebrate it as normal, it is still overshadowed by Christmas.
It doesn't bother me, though, I don't like celebrations at my expense.

Yes and no.
What with the variable date for easter weekend, some years i do have my birthday on a holiday, other years it isn't.

I have a friend who was born on Christmas Day. He doesn't get two sets of presents. He hates it.

Myself? I'm not born on any special day in particular.

No, not born on a holiday, as far as I'm aware.
My birthday is on the 13th however, so when it falls on a Friday . . . baaaad things happen!

Also, a belated happy birthday to you OP.
Really? My birthday is on the 13th of August, and yet nothing bad ever has happened when it lands on a Friday. (Although, the reason why the day is considered unlucky is due to the elimination of the Knights Templar on th 13th of October almost a thousand years ago).

Labor Day (weekend). I'm not kidding.
9/4/94

EDIT: How has it affected me?
Well as a little kid I remember attendance to my birthday was always affected by people going on vacation.

Labor Day is a semi-Holiday created for the unions. It's pretty much just a three day weekend. And is always on the first weekend of September.

I'm born on one of New Zealand's national holidays. It's the day which marks the signing of a treaty which allowed people to live here.

It's nice not having to go to school on your birthday ^^.

Technically I was born on Father's day the year I was born, tho obviously the two days lining up only happens every few years.

It really doesn't affect me much at all until the fateful time that they both land on the same Sunday, at which point I'm a little sad since my father died a few years ago.

One of my older sisters shares your Valentine's birthday, tho, OP. :)

August 28th.

Not a holiday, but still the day Martin Luther King made his "I have a dream" speech.
