I miss being able to open up a ton of videos in one session, and knocking them out one at a time. I'm just wondering what the general consensus was on this change.

It was a bit surprising at first, but I think it works pretty well. I usually only open one video at a time, and if I open more than one I can always pause the others. In general, it seems like a pretty minor change.

I liked it better when they did not auto play. It allowed me to open tabs in the background for each video and article I wanted to view at the beginning of my visit, and work my way through them after that.

I have currently reactivated FlashBlock on this site for that reason.

One reason I can guess for the change is the same reason youtube may also do this. Page hits are what they most likely use to calculate their traffic volume. It is important to them that they can see what stories, and videos, have the most traffic.

If people open 12 tabs and then read through them later, as I do, then there is a greater chance the person got distracted and ended up not finishing their reading/watching. So if they see 300,000 views of The Big Picture, it's possible that say 10,000 opened the tab and then forgot about it and didn't view it. Maybe it looked good at the time, but then the moment passed and the person then didn't care about it anymore.

That's all a guess though.

I keep forgetting about the auto-play, and I end up either opening an ad of some kind or freezing the video when I automatically click on the screen after I select a video. Other than this minor, minor inconvenience, it's fine I suppose.

I don't like it, but I don't mind. I'd prefer to be able to opt out or something, but it's a minor inconvenience.

i typically open several tabs from front page articles that i want to read/watch in succession...now it means i either have to wait for the adds to play so i can pause the video or just not open the video links until i am about to watch them

*I* should be the one that chooses when a video starts playing. Having automated embedded videos is not okay with me.

Gotta say that I am not a fan. I like being in control of my video playing, but I suppose it looks better to the advertisers if the escapist says look, we get X thousands of hits on this video and now they automatically play, so your ad WILL be played which means you're not throwing away your money.

I rarely have fewer than six tabs open on my browser at the same time, never fewer than three. I just open everything interesting to a new tab and go through them later. But with the autoplay I can't just open multiple different videos and then forget about them for a while. I'll have to open them one by one and pause them. It's annoying.

I'd like to know what the reason for adding the autoplay is. It just makes the site much less pleasant to use.

I don't like it at all.. NOPE

It is just irritating losing control of your browser like that.

It's kinda annoying, but nothing I can't live with. I did prefer being in control of when the videos started though.

It's getting on my nerves, really. And do they announce these things? Probably not.

I don't like it at all. The ads I can handle, but that auto play is really annoying. It's kinda like the whole Xbone DRM crap, having things forced on you is always a bad thing.

Not annoying as Youtube's autoplay and definitely not as annoying as Blip's (I press pause, damn it!!). I'd still prefer if it weren't there, though.
