karma is impossible, however your actions Always have consequences in the real-world, both positive and negative interactions can have both positive and negative results.

I believe strongly in that what goes around comes and that you reap what you sew but I don't believe in the part of Karma that says if you do evil things it will affect you in the next life. No if you do bad things it will negativity affect you in THIS life not the next life (that is you even believe in reincarnation which I DON'T) otherwise how can you learn to change and realise your misgivings if you don't remember doing it in the first place since it was in a previous life!?

Yes and no. I don' think there is some all seeing being that rewards/punishes you for your actions, but I believe that everything you do in life has a consequence that can vastly change the course of history. You should always try to do good.

I do believe a little bit in what goes around comes around but not by some mystical force, it just happens. Anyway, I don't need the idea of things going my way to be a good person. Screw karma.

Now we've probably all come across karma systems in games and had things happen to us depending on if we play good guys or bad guys. But do you think the real world is as simple?

Now normally I'd say no, but I did something shitty to a friend yesterday and today everything's gone wrong - I burned myself, I spilled coffee on my favourite coat and now have to dry clean it, the bus didn't show up and I forgot my lunch at home.

What's your take on the whole karma business?
Firstly, Karma is obviously made up, this is the 21st century ffs! How can there be 15% believing in such a ridiculous superstition?!?

Secondly, of the 4 events you mention, only the bus is out of your control. If you feel guilty about what you did to your friend, then it's probably stressed you out a little and distracted you, which is what made you spill your coffee, burn yourself, and forget your lunch.

I know that those things were my own fault. And I don't really believe in karma per se. I just thought of it while all of that was happening and wondered how many people out there who'd see something like that as some sort of 'divine retribution' or whatever.

...You do understand there is such a thing as Buddhism and Hinduism right? Maybe those 15% that believe in Karma subscribe to those beliefs.

However I myself am not Buddhist so I think Karma is a load of bullshit and chips.

Cosmically no. But I do believe that if you are a nice person people do often respond more positively and vice versa if you're an asshole. But it's not magic.

Pretty much this.

A Hermit's Cave
For the longest time, I did, but in the most fucked up sense:

1. If something good happens to/for me, something bad will happen to/for me.
2. If I do something bad, something bad will happen to/for me.
3. If something bad happens to someone close to me, something bad will happen to/for me.
4. If something good happens to someone close to me, something bad will happen to/for me.
5. If someone close to me does something bad, something bad will happen to/for me.

...

Don't bother quoting... I know...

This, generally an evil action in and of itself will have certain consequences, entirely natural ones. I believe in no supernatural things though. Besides, I have seen too many "case studies" against the idea.

Nope. I do not believe that something will magically come and kick you in the balls if you were extra annoying that one day at school.

I believe it CAN exist for certain people cause I don't believe in coincidence. However I feel tis more some people just use what they can more to their advantage than others and others mistake that for karma.

Nope, this is coming from someone who is an optimist too.
I've had too many people treat me like shit despite me being a nice person to believe in karma.
I know someone who rakes in £1k a month through benefits, gets everything handed to him on a platter, sits at home all day and plays video games, gets to go to all the festivals like Download, gets to travel several times a year and he's a complete and utter ****.
That one example, and knowing there's many more out there is enough to stop me believing in it.

So happens, I do. You see, I make people suffer when they do me a wrong turn. When all is right in the world, everything is static. When someone does something I don't like...there's trouble. It's a matter of fact that I don't even have to do anything. Bad things happen to them because they deserve it, and I am left both smiling and without responsibility.

I see Karma as a proto-spiritualist take on Newton's Third Law, the difference being that Newton actually managed to prove how this happens, instead of involving fate and faith in it.

Sadly, as humans evolved we have lost sight of our actions, and constantly think there is a plot against us, when what's happening is simply bad decisions we took in the past that eventually bite back. And, of course, Lady Luck waking up with migraines and looking funny at you.

My belief is that Karma is not an abstract force.
If you are nice to people, they are going to be nice back.
If you act like a dick, people won't be so nice.

That way, if you are a good person, you are more likely to have good things happen to you because people appreciate you and might express their gratitude, and if you are a dick, the opposite is probably true.

edit: I voted no.
