Time to put your wits to the test! Or rather, time to show how well your wits did against everyone elses!

OK, heres how the poll works, I have it set up by ACT/Old SAT/New SAT. The ACT is simple, just your ACT score. The Old SAT means the one that was well... the old one. It was scored on with a max of 1600, was only 2 parts and did not have the writing test, its the one most older folks would have taken, although I think some places do still use it.

Most younger people would have taken the new SAT, which is mostly the same but it has a third writing test and has a max of 2400. Basically if you got in the mid thousands on your SAT but that wasn't very good you have taken the new one, if that was really good you took old one.

Anyways, have at it and TELL THE TRUTH! We don't wan no peoples lyin bout der intelergance, and if you have taken more than one of the three tests just use the one you scored highest on. If you can't remember the exact #, just take an educated guess.

Anyhow, for me I got a 30 on my ACT. Nothing to be ashamed of but I'm going to try again for a 32, hopefully it will be enough to get into UCLA :)

Geez, it's been years! I think I scored a 32 on the ACT. I think. It was pretty fairly high, I remember that. No, wait--maybe it was a 28 or 29. If 32 is maxing it then I definitely didn't do that well.

I wonder how well I'd do on it now. It seems like senility is creeping in on me. Hey--You young whippersnappers get off my lawn!

Sorry, what were we talking about again?

God, I don't have a clue as to what my score was, but I'm reasonably certain that I didn't do well.

I remember I scored around 2000 and that was good a good thing... so I guess I took the new one?

I believe I scored a 2130. I think I could have scored better, I made a bunch of dumb mistakes on it that I clearly remember, but I was too lazy to take it a second time. I also took the ACT because I heard it was easier and got a 31. Pretty good but not great. I figure if I had actually practiced at home during my SAT test prep in addition to going to the class I could have gotten a perfect score (not that it would have mattered much since I was a lazy fuck in high school and had a crappy GPA).

From what I remember the max on the ACT was 36 not 32.

I think I got a 1230 on my SAT. It was also the first year they had the written portion of the test, but because it was the first year, the written portion did not actually count. I also didn't study for it. I probably would've done better had I studied, but at that point in my life my educational concerns were basically nonexistent. I also failed Trig that year because I knew I didn't need it to graduate and I didn't feel like doing the homework. Good times.

I don't remember what I scored, but I'm pretty sure it was average.
I'm also pretty sure that my score didn't have any baring on my life, my choice of collage or career.

Not that it's much good to the poll, but for a point of contrast, In Victoria, Aus, the VCE (Vic Cert of Edu) is awarded between 0 and 100, in .05 increments and allocated along a bell curve. And to get less than 30 or so you need to be a dog. Or fail to attend anything at all for 2 years. Seriously, you could train a dog to get a VCE.

But to the topic at hand, i got 96.90 to my recall. My friend beat me by 0.05, bastard.....

I'm personally about to do my first run on it in 5 weeks exactly. UGH The practice tests killed me, I just hope colleges are willing to overlook the score at least a little bit.

I took the ACT twice and got a 28 and a 30. But, because of the magic of how they reported scores, my choice schools only took the average of the five individual tests, so in the end it averages out to a 31.

The what?
SAT, ACT? Are we preparing to take over the world and these are our strategies?

The hell is this...
Well for a non-american and someone who doesn't have English as their mothertongue.
I can figure out this is a test of some sort, now I just need someone to explain to me what kind of test we're talking about...

Right with most (so far) at 32 on the ACT. Actually I got a 29, but tested again and did better about 10 months later. But that's been 17 years ago, I'm quite sure without preparation after over a decade without formal schooling I would not even manage half that these days.

Oh and for our international escapists, the ACT\SAT's are college prep. standardized tests. Universities use them for admissions standards, scholarship consideration, that sort of thing.

1840 on the new SAT.
It's not stellar, but it's plenty enough to get me into the college I want to attend.

Here's the little trick no one tells you about with most land grant/state schools. You can get in as a transfer with standards far lower than the typical entry requirements. Additionally, you can do a year or two at a tech school, get a fair portion of your general education courses out of the way (math, English, etc), save bucket loads of money, and still graduate from your institution of choice.

More on topic...I took the ACT back in 2000 and scored a 21 or 22...not quite sure. Went to Madison Area Technical College for a semester, and was accepted into all of the UW-System schools the next semester. Don't sweat not getting into the school of your choice right away. Chances are pretty well in your favor that you'll no doubt get in as a transfer.

Yep, thats pretty much what I'm doing. I'm going to do some classes in the military and then do some more classes once I get out to get about 2 years of college knocked out then I'm going to apply to UCLA (along with quite a few other schools of course) and finish up in a university.
