Anything by Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden or Motorhead.

Can't go wrong with the classics.
I'd have to say I'd take NWOBHM bands over Slayer, Slipknot, or SOAD any day of the week. In short, most modern bands which function on "xtreem bass riff, d00d", guitar mush, and over-the-top show efforts are trying too hard. Of course, because there's a bit of stylistic difference there, fans of the latter draw distinctions between metal and heavy metal as two different things. Classic hard rock and heavy metal are my preferred poison.

None of those are at all remotely good or even metal.
I think they're good. And yes they are metal bands.[/quote]

No. They are not metal, hard rock, and nu metal at best. Nor are they good. If you think they're good, more power to you, but you're contributing to bands that are polluting the gene pool of proper metal.

EDIT: i fail at quoting.

Eh, System Of A Down is pretty awesome, Avenged Sevenfold too. That's about it.

Maiden, maiden and more maiden!!! :D

Or, maybe try some of Bruce Dickinsons solo work.

I wud also recommend Rammstein, and Persuader- the Hunter album in particular.

If they like power metal bands then look up Masterplan, Hammerfall, Iced Earth and Kamelot- cheezy stuff lol :)

And which music do you prefer, O paragon of the community? Enlighten us with your taste in music.

I prefer music that doesn't involve screaming into a microphone and singing about people dying in brutal ways. For you see, I am normal.

Play every Ozzy based Black Sabbath track on repeat, there is no need for anything else.

Or just stick to childrens music, that sounds hilarious.

And that is why you are weak, human.

With you all the way. I can't get into Slayer, Slipknot, Cradle of Filth etc. at all. There just doesn't seem to be any structure or pattern I can follow. Maiden, Saxon, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest - all very tight, powerful music.

Not all metal involves screaming and death and Satan et al. Like every genre of music, there are sub-genres. I am personally a fan of operatic and melodic metal, such as Finland's Nightwish and Children of Bodom. Saying 'I hate metal because they sing about death' would be akin to saying 'I hate country because they sing about pick-up trucks'. What I'm saying is that there's more to metal than a bunch of talentless musicians screaming 'I AM SATAN BLAAAAAHHH!' over and over again. You don't have to like it, but please allow others to do so and respect it as another form of music.
