Bought some games to play during school, only to have my professors decide then would be a great time to start really giving out work. Then, my 360 died and I only just replaced it. This summer I have a ton of games to play, though, so that's nice.

Happens to me relatively frequently. I'll get a game, go out and play it for an hour or two, and be bored with it and not touch it again for months, if at all. Best example of this is Unreal Tournament 3. Looked kinda interesting, I picked it up, played all of 4 games on it, uninstalled and it's been sitting on my Steam account looking pretty for a while now.

Doing that with Mass Effect as I write this pot, but I am finally getting ready to beat it over the summer.

Yeah. I do tend to amass games only so I can play them when I have time or when I finish other games. Got Valkyrie Profile 2 a few weeks ago, yet to even to put it in the PS2...

Yeah, all the time--I have a huge pile of games I still haven't finished or even started playing. It's mainly because I'm stupidly busy that I just don't have time to play.

pretty much, it's just the silent hill series. I got the second one cause I heard good things, but it scares the shit out of me every time I load it up so that one's gonna take a while.

I...er...I've yet to play Final Fantasy X, Skies of Arcadia, and Beyond Good and Evil. I've had all of them for a while now (the last one for a couple of weeks, the other two for over a year).

All the time. I have a massive backlog because of this. I've been working on it this year, and because of that I haven't bought a game since February. Hell, I have a few games I've had for 2+ years and still haven't played yet. (Otogi 2 and Viewtiful Joe 2 spring to mind. Why haven't I played them? Because I still need to beat Otogi 1 and Viewtiful Joe 1 >.<)

Where do I begin? I bought the following games just to be shelved:

Valkyrie Profile 2
Final Fantasy XII
God Hand
Black
Operation Darkness
Dragon Quest VII

...to name a few

I'll do you one better. I bought the Wii and played it for a few months, then got my 360 and haven't touched the thing since. Maybe it's because the only decent game I have for it is SSBB.

I bought the Metal Gear Solid collection, played MGS1 (I had an MGS1 craving and you can't buy MGS1 by itself anymore.. it used to be ubiquitous like FFVII, but not anymore), didn't play MGS2 or MGS3.. in fact, it's the third time I've bought MGS3, and I haven't played any of my bought copies at all, I keep trading it in - I had already beaten it prior to buying it, and I kept getting a deal on it.. stupid me eh?.
Haha, almost exactly like me. I bought the Metal Gear Solid collection because I kept hearing how amazing MGS is and thought I should prime myself for the upcoming release of MGS4. I played the first one, really disliked it, never bothered with MGS2 or MGS3. Got to the end of MGS4 though, but gave up on it. I dunno, I am a strong disbeliever in MGS.

If this counts, I played Assassin's Creed for about a day and shelfed it the next. I bought Medieval II: Total War in anticipation of a new computer, and it didn't see service for about 2 weeks.

Usually I can't really get myself to just leave a game unplayed like that. I buy games out of desperation usually, and I get one and rush home and play it.

This is an unfortunate one...

Played Left 4 Dead the first 3 times with un-cooperative teammates which was just infuriating and frustrating and now it is sitting on my shelf for those rare occasions when 3 of my actual real life buddies are online.
