So I downloaded Fallen Earth when it went F2P and tried it out but the servers kept going down since then, I haven't been on, and then I get this entitled with caps: WE MISS YOU!!

Hey you! We noticed you haven't logged in since the Free2Play launch when the servers were going down a bunch. That makes us feel bad; partly because we miss you, and partly because we know there's all this awesome gameplay you're not experiencing because we couldn't keep the game up.
I know that it is probably just an automated message sent to players around that time, but it honestly makes me feel sad for some odd reason.

Anyone ever get something like this, and if so what game was it? I have before in the past, mainly f2p games.

I've gotten it before, but I don't remember what game it was, because I introduced it to my trash bin too quickly. Usually if I stop playing something, it's because I think it's boring, like WoW. I'm not gonna come back just because you said you miss me.

I periodically get emails reminding me that I can reactivate my EVE Online account for a few days for free, but that's about it.

Pretty much this.

"Come back! Limited time offer to reactivate for free for 30 days!"

A year later, after getting the same email every couple of months...

"Come back! Limited time offer to reactivate for free for 30 days!"

Edit: I should add that this is also for EVE Online. Strangely I don't get emails from Blizzard about reactivating my WoW account that often, although I suspect more will come if the continued slide in subscriber numbers doesn't stop. I haven't played since mid/late WotLK.

I get it from Blizzard all the time. Also from one of those flash websites one of my friends had me sign up for since she wanted to play chess at 2 in the morning.

Yeppers. From WoW every so often. I even got a free copy of Burning Crusade way back when (Right before the launch of Wrath) in the mail in order to get me to come back. I didn't respond, so they've only made this offer via email every so often.

I got something very simular to this from twitter. It worked too since I logged into my twitter account for the first time in 3 months and post two tweets. Its the old grandmother guilt version of customer retention.

ive gotten them from games, forums and websites.

Makes me feel sad sometimes, because most often the games and places are dead.

I got one from Blizzard this morning. I haven't been back to WoW since before Cataclysm launched. I dunno, I might take a look.

Good to know that the FE guys are trying to recover some of the people who may have been discouraged during the F2P launch. I was around during that and it was pretty bad. However, the game is much more stable now and it's easily my favourite MMO, so I hope you do give it another try.

Going to do it this weekend, I liked the game but due to the lag and such. But I plan on playing this weekend to make use of the free 3 sub days.

Playing single-player, offline, console games almost exclusively, no. I've never got anything like that once in my entire life and didn't realize stuff like that happened. Maybe I should start investing in a gaming-capable PC.

I wish I could get one from Star Trek Online saying something like "you haven't played the game in almost 2 years, we're so sorry that it sucks skunk balls, here's your lifetime subscription fee back, since the game is going Free-to-Play anyway"

Nope, never got any of these mails.
Blizzard sent me a e-mail about a account that may have been hacked, but I have always paid with the card thing and haven't used it since Burning Crusade so I doubt anyone has any good use for that account.

I've gotten a few of those e-mails. Mostly from World of Warcraft since I quit two years ago. Once in a blue moon from Aion, after I quit in the first three months. Less so from Lord of the Rings Online because I only joined after it went Free-to-Play.

They assume giving me ten free days will get me hooked again, but the problem with their logic is I never was hooked to begin with. I generally dislike MMO games because it's less about the experience and more about yours specs. I quit WoW because I tried to join a public event of some kind only to be told I should leave because I wasn't any proper spec of character and I'd only be a burden to the group.

I play MMO games for PVE and the MMO part of it is only really because my friends and I could tag-team some quests. I'm not going to play ANY game for ANY amount of time only to have really good specs so I can make somebody else feel like my time was well spent.

So MMO games might miss me, but I sure as hell don't miss them.

I get these emails occasionally, usually from EVE, WoW, LOCO and some others and I gotta admit, they work... I always check the email and 9 out of 10 times I'll even go further and re-check out the game, latest patch notes etc and it'll possibly drag me back in for a while again.

I don't find them annoying at all, if anything I'm quite happy to receive them.

Just got one the other day from WoW. It pretty much said, that deathwing is killable now and you should kill him......or at least try free for seven days. Nice try Blizzard but I ain't bitting. I'm done with WoW. Take my 6 years of subscription fees and leave me in peace.
