"Should there be more or less Exclusives?"

Yes/No?

... Say what? Learn 2 poll!
That was exactly my reaction, it makes no sense.

OT: I honestly don't care, most exclusives aren't amazing enough to buy a whole new console anyways (I've play Shadow of The Collossus on a friends Ps2, and it wasn't the earth shattering awesome some people made it out to be, it was merely ok).

That being said, I'm glad I have a 360 because I love the Halo series, mostly because I have lots of friends who play it.

less exclusives, exclusives are the reason I cant play Shadow of the colossus. Therefore I hate exclusives.
But the reason games like Shadow of the Collosus are so good is the exclusivity.
Developing for one console is a ton easier than developing for all of them. They get to spend their budget on the design rather than recoding an entire game and retesting it for each extra console.

Exclusivity means higher quality so i say we should have more of it! I just wish we could standardize one console or something.

I don't like exclusives. I think that the idea is to get your game out to as wide of an audience as possible, and it really ticks me off when there happens to be an exclusive title or two I want, but the rest of the system's game library sucks (I'm looking at you, PS3).

It?s the same dream as having a console that plays all types of games. It probably shouldn?t happen. I know we resent not being able to get some awesome stuff on other consoles but it?s just something we need to put up with. Each console should do its own thing, varying consoles for varying tastes.
Besides, it?s good to have a bit of variety and competition in the market.

I isn?t even that the console wars would just end, it would just become more trivial and pathetic.

Hmm; an interesting dilemma. On the one hand, exclusives promote innovation and differentiation between the different platforms. On the other, nobody likes being left out of playing a good game because they don't have the console it's on.

I think it is just right the way it is. If there were more exclusives, more people would not get the chance to play some amazing games. On the other hand, if there were less exclusives, the companies would probably rely on gimmicks to compete with each other, more than they already do.

Edit: Sorry everyone the poll is labelled wrong and it wont let me change it, TAKE YES AS MORE AND NO AS LESS

I was having a discussion with a 360 owner friend of mine who thinks that all games should be multi platform ie God Of War on 360 and Wii, Halo on PS3 and Wii and Super Smash Bros on PS3 and 360.
In theory this would be the perfect idea, but in reality I dont think it will work for one simple reason

The Exclusives make each console great.

Most of the greatest games have been designed specifically for a paticular console
Take into account the following
Halo Series
Uncharted
God of War
Super Mario
Mass Effect (well for now anyway)
Super Smash Bros
Zelda series
Gears of War
Gran Turismo
Forza
Infamous

These are all the cream of the crop of the gaming world and all are dedicated to one platform.
I am not saying there isnt any multi platform that aren't good.
Red Dead Redemption, Assassins Creed 2 and Borderlands are all multi platform that have been good games I have played recently.
But will increasing the number of exclusives make for better gaming? Or will it hurt more people that if only too choose one console (personally I have all 3 current gen so it doesn't bother me) you are missing out on a whole heap of other good stuff.

What do you think? More Exclusives or Less Exclusives
If those are the "Cream of the crop" then gaming must suck a lot more than I thought it did.....

From a business standpoint I would think having a game be multi-platform would allow it to reach a larger audience therefore bringing in more capital/profit. *shrug*

Woah, why is no exclusives in the lead. If there were no exclusives then there would be no incentives for different consoles.

Wow I would hate to see what you think is good then. Must be a really boring collection of games.

They feel so...exclusive.

Ultimately, a console's image and character is decided by its exclusive games.
I agree with this guy. Think PS3 you get Kratos, think Xbox360 you get Master Chief. Don't destroy it please
