I was just watching Does Not Compute (The remnants of Cracked TV)

And the episode was about, well eyeball tattooing.

Would you get your eyeballs tattooed, and if so would you dye the whites of your eyes, the pupils, or both? Also, what color?

Me, I say no. I would not, no matter how cool it might look. Unless they could put me under first, then... maybe.
What the hell man, eyeball ? Really? Maybe the eyelid but no way the eyeball. Changing your eye colour is one thing but those aren't tatoos.

I have grey eyes, they seem to reflect the dominant colour of my surroundings so I guess there's no need for this. I was sitting facing a blue sky once and someone said "wow you have blue eyes like the ocean". I responded "that's deep".

I now apologise to the entire internet.

Let's see...I've got my tongue pierced, 5 tattoos (one on each upper arm, one on my calf, one on my shoulder, and the last on my ring finger), and had my nipple pierced for a little while (got rid of it because it was badly done, was painful in the cold, and got really infected even though I kept it clean. Why did I get it in the first place? The same reason I had a mohawk for a while, being heavily intoxicated.) Anyways, what were we talking about? Oh yeah, I've had all that done but would never get my eyeball inked. I've seen it done on TV, if you twitch...you go BLIND! I'll pass.

I wouldn't get a tattoo anywhere, nonetheless on my eye. I can't even imagine how much that would hurt.

Oh, and to derail this thread a bit, I really miss Cracked TV. It was much more organized than Does Not Compute...

I'm going to go with No. I'll wait till fiber-optic cybernetic eyes come out and just get a pair of those.

I already have corneal tattoos... got them done in a payne's gray type color which is kind of a dark blue/gray the original colour of my iris pretty much. I like them. A lot of corneal tats I've seen look fugly because of weird contrast between the colour of iris and cornea.(For example, almost every one I've seen. Blue eyes with red, Brown eyes with blue, etc...) But mine kinda synergizes, its a bit like looking at the ocean on a cloudy day. I think these can be genuinely attractive if they are done with any kind of regards to good colour taste. On a side note for a while afterward I noticed I had better vision than regular but I got used to it.

I can think of few things stupider to do, like, just a few steps above cutting your own arm off. Heck, if you cut your arm off, you could still conceivably get a job afterwards.
I'm a visual artist buddy. I guess if you want a job where people are so narrow minded that they actually care, it would be pretty stupid. I advise anyone who would like to sit behind a desk /facepalming themselves everyday for the next 40 years only to realize that they still haven't made enough money to retire that they should definitely not get this interesting body mod, and should take to heart the wise words just quoted. Heck take the advice to the next level and cut off your head! Then you won't have to worry about getting a job.

Hell yeah.. wait.. no, thats really stupid, however. I would, on the other hand, get my eye stamped. It colours the white part of your eye for roughly 6 weeks. fxxk it up though, and you could be blind for a while

Nnnnnnope. Tht's just a tad too extreme, and this is coming from a guy with tattoos on my feet and the undersides of my wrists. (and for those of who who don't know, that shit HURTS.)

Aren't there contact lenses that do the same thing? Yeah you always have to put them in but they aren't permanent. Plus you can have different sets and mix and match.

Of course that's not to say that I wouldn't get cybernetic replacements for eyes. That would be fucking sweet.

Remember that thread a few days back about the 'most ridiculous things touted as art'? You've just topped the list.
How is what I said in any way related to that thread on which I also commented
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.220317-Most-ridiculous-thing-touted-as-art?page=2#7413460
thats the comment I made, maybe you'd find it somewhat illuminating
then again illumination is hard to find when you live under a bridge
/troll

If you actually read the post you would notice I never once referred to corneal tats as "art"
I simply said that I find when they respect good aesthetic sense they can be attractive.

could you actually come up with a coherent definition of art?

the second bit of my comment on this thread was not promoting people getting it but laughing at someone who was flaming it. /freewill ftw

From what I saw in the second half, it looked like you were touting your eyes as part of your art.
I'll break down my comment. Colour coded and everything.

The bold part was making mention of the fact that I am currently employed.
The rest of it was laughing at his choice of values and reasoning.
"Don't do this because if you do your an idiot, who would hire someone with tattooed eyes?"
I found the comment to be kind of sad, if the reasoning for not doing something you wanted to do was so mundane.
If you don't like it aesthetically, that's fine. I myself made mention that alot of people have really ugly corneal tats. But most of the posts on this thread were just flaming.
"Its stoopid" is not a discussion.

Sadly not all of us have the option to become artists, on the other hand, something like a teacher, doctor/dentist/nurse, lawyer, working with children/the elderly/90% of people, pretty much any job in the services/tourism trade etc.
I don't think "wanting to advance your career" is in any way a shallow or mundane goal, no more than "changing your physical appearance" is.
Also, judging people by the way they choose to present themselves isn't narrowminded. In fact, thinking that you can present yourself how you want and calling anyone that judges you because of it "narrowminded" is quite narrowminded.
