D: WHY ARE PEOPLE VOTING SMALL GUNS OVER ENERGY WEAPONS? >.<

I just.. Just don't understand.
Well let me put it this way: Sarah Lyons uses Energy Weapons. The Mysterious Stranger uses Small Guns. What more needs to be said?
Hey now. You know who else uses energy weapons? Fawkes.
Fawkes uses Melee (Super Sledge) and Big Guns (Gatling Laser), not Energy Weapons.
Dont you hate having to say the same thing twice?
Why cant people read?

Small guns. Why? Two words: Lincoln's Repeater. Maybe some on average the Energy Weapons are more powerful than the Small Guns but with the perks I have Lincoln's Repeater becomes a room cleaner in one of the later missions for vanilla F3 I held off twenty or so Enclave soldiers by headshoting each one, one right after another.

I really wanted to use small guns because of sniper rifle but that one wasnt so good, there wasnt so much ammo for it, it was getting damaged really fast, scope havent add any accuracy in VATS and all small guns looked silly with power armor so I ended up using energy wepons which were strong, easy to fix, had planty of ammo and looked better. Yet I think its good to have both.

I used small guns mostly.

I wanted to use the energy weapons, but I play on console and there is a bug that causes the goo piles and ash piles to never disappear, so I never use them.

Like a lot of people said, pretty easy to max both even if you only go up to level 20 without the Broken Steel expansion.

But overall, I generally preferred small guns. Lincoln's Repeater was my favorite all around weapon and the post apocalyptic game world just felt more real to me if I was using small guns.

I usually start small guns, then use energy, and by endgame I'm just slaughtering with melee weps.

The auto-axe seriously rips anything it it's path to shreds, especially the named ones.

I maxed out energy weapons ASAP, I liked the way they looked, and I had a high intelligence character so it seemed a perfect fit. There's not much variety, but I found the plasma pistol to be lethal when combined with the skill that improves accuracy with one-handed weapons, and the sniper perk.

Can I just say Scoped Magnum? Because that's the only weapon I use. Aside from grenades. And Jack.

I prefer the small guns personally ... it's less of a ***** to find ammo, and I just plain like the weapons :D

Energy weapons are my thing, I'm a hoarder, I've got a lot of the "named" weapons and am still trying to get them all. However, I maxed out the stealth to 100 and I've got the Chinese Stealth Armor, so I can take out the toughest enemies with Jingwei's Shock Sword. Which I guess counts as an energy weapon to a certain degree.

Depends on the challenge... The sophisticated brute... The sneaky tech... Or my favorite, Degenerate Commando...

Small guns mostly, energy weapons remove any real challenge in the game. Sure while you're out shooting behemoths with a plasma rifle, I'm crawling through the sewers with an SMG going out to get a few kills so I can buy ammo. It's a game of wasteland survival,

Not "Plasma Tank 3: Mutant Purge".

Energy weapons, the custom plasma-rifle you get from Harkness (after many questin's) is so overpoewered it's hilarious.
This combined with my ludicrous stealth skill meant i could STEALTH KILL A GUY BY TURNING HIM INTO GREEN GOO.

I prefer the small guns. Only because I love the Sniper Rifle, so the higher the skill on that, the more kills I can get without using VATS. ^^ And I hate having to use VATS.

I maxed both. Not that hard, man. Fallout 3 is a very easy game.
Me too.

Energy weapons is good for the Alien Blaster, since the ammo is so limited, which makes you not want to miss with it. I like using it whenever I'm too lazy to take the time to kill a high health enemy.
I maxed out both of them to but i just ended up using all energy weps.

And if you get mothershipzeta you have pretty much infinte ammo for all the alien guns.

Small guns. Lincoln's rifle is just awesome.

Only Energy weapon that appealed to me was the sniper out of Operation Anchorage and that has a lot to do with it being the only actual accurate sniper weapon in the game (not needing me to rely on V.A.T.S for it).
Sniper? I don't remember any specail sniper rifle out of anchorage.

I'm always a thief-character, so I play the Small Guns.

Of course I use the Energy Weapons too, but not until at least level 7.
Yea. At the beginning I stick to small guns because they're so common, I basically walk out of my house/shack/stash location with a rifle and a shotgun and come back with rifles, shottys, pistols, assault rifles, and a bunch of other stuff.
Those plasma guns are very powerful and I especially like Harkness' A321 Plasma Rifle but at the beginning that's the only plasma rifle available.

Just be warned, sometimes the goo/ash piles left by energy weapons don't disappear like the body parts left by small guns. Sounds great but if you're leaving goo piles all over the wasteland, it can (from what I've heard) mess up your game and Fallout 3 doesn't need any help being buggy.
