I recently got fallout 3 for the 360. At first everything was fine up until you get to the first town. I had no idea what to do/where to go and whenever I went to where the marker was it lead me to a dead-end subway station. I gave up and walked back to buy some more ammo. I was testing to see if I had any amo in any of my guns and I shot the store lady thus making everyone pissed at me. I fended them off for a good while then left the place i was using as my fort. I explored around a bit and now this is where I stand:

I have no money, no ammo, no indication of where to go, bored with repetitive environments, everyones dead and the people who arnt dead hate me.

I am frankly dissapointed because I was looking for a really solid, entertaining RPG that wasnt as text loving as ME1(or 2) or DA:O. What should I do to spice this up and make it the jaw dropping deliciousness I always hear about?

EDIT: Thank you all for your pointers and tips! I restarted a new toon and low and behold I am enjoying myself much more :)

Yes, you are doing something wrong for not liking something the masses like.

How dare you.

/sarcasm because apparently that is needed at the end of sarcastic statements

I tend to hate most things on the Xbox 360 people love.
I hate Halo, I think COD is average at best, and can't stand Fable or Fallout.

It's an open world RPG. You get to town, you talk to some people. You find out where you go from there, anything that leads to your dad is the main quest anything else you can do if you feel like. Want money beg steal or borrow it. Find some crap and sell it, or kills some stuff and sell it. Moria Brown has some more quests for you if you really can't find anything else to do.

lmao! you dont flip random people off, its very anti-social....the first quest is either arming or disarming the nuke in megaton

You did nothing wrong...you did something considered bad in real life and now you have to suffer the consequences...
That is that you have no ammo, and no money, and everyone hates you.
Go drag your useless outlaw asshole character around until you find a guy with a quest, get a melee weapons somewhere and do it.

It´s roleplaying, if you don´t like that everyone hates you, then maybe you shouldn´t have acted as a dick in the first place<.<

It usually says if you have ammo in the lower right corner. Or is that only in the PC version? I suppose you could always check your inventory periodically. And when in doubt, whip the instruction manual out. Just don't hit anyone with it, 'cause that smarts.

I think you went at it in the wrong way. Just take your time and enjoy the scenery, it'll eventually grow on you. Despite nothing else growing on it.

I got lost in the subway too. What helped me was using the detailed map (forgot the name) rather than the general world map. Then just go roughly towards the marker. The subway isn't too much of a labyrinth so it shouldn't be too hard.

Also: I played it for 8 hours and I can't get into it. I also couldn't get into Half Life 2 :\

I had some false starts playing Fallout 3 as well. Though I never came to really love the game, I have enjoyed it for some time and finished it twice. Getting to know what the game is all about and how the mechanics work is a good step in the right direction. Making the right leveling choices can really pay out for a more fun and playable game.

The first time I played it I hated it, but when I persevered and played it properly rather than just shooting everything that moves it is a very immersive experience. It's one of those games that sometimes require an investment on behalf of the gamer too rather than just making the game do all the work.

Fallout 3 is a really good game. What I would do if i were you is start over. This time when you get to town (Megaton) ask questions they will give you quests. Also I do not recall any of the subways being a dead-end. There are however several ways to go in them. Check your map, allot. There are areas you cannot get to unless you go through the subways. Check your quests in your pipboy, there is a button that will mark your map were to go. When ever you kill anything search the bodies everything is worth caps. You can find 4 salesmen that hangout right outside Megaton. Stand outside the door (next to the robot deputy) and wait 3 hours they will show up with a 2 headed cow and a guard. If they don,t show up keep waiting 3 hours until they do. You can get a free house in Megaton buy talking to the sheriff and disarming the bomb. It really would be worth it to you to restart again.

Start again. Go to Megaton, talk to the mayor/sheriff/guy in a hat who greets you as soon as you arrive. Sort out the bomb (either arm it to blow or defuse it, your choice), then go to the saloon (right at the top of the town) and talk to Colin. He'll set you on with the main quest. While you're in Megaton, you can talk to Walter in the water treatment place and he'll set you on an unmarked quest to fix the leaky pipes around town. This is really useful, when you're done you can go back to him with any scrap metal you find to get experience and either money or good karma, depending on dialogue choice.

Also, most of the subway stations are not dead ends, they're the only way to get around the DC ruins. Use the map screens, they'll show you where you're going. Oh yeah, and don't go shooting people in settlements unless you want to piss everyone off. It's in your best interest to keep them alive, at least for the first few hours of the game.

There's a start... and I'm sure my friend Google will help you find the Fallout Wiki if you're really struggling.

If this isn't your idea of a good time, then you won't like this game. The rest of it is just because you're a psycho who might want to see a shrink, do that and you probably won't feel the need to shoot friendly NPCs in the head and thus won't be ostracized. But Fallout is about traveling a hostile wasteland trying to scavenge enough scrap to afford bullets to stay alive another day. It's about exploring an unknown world hoping to find something useful or interesting. Following the storyline won't make you happy, I can tell you that.

It's also possible that you don't like these things because you don't want to like the game.

You killed people in megaton right? That means they try to kill you so talk someone who is alive and won't kill you and get a quest. The rest just falls in to place. You'll kill enemies with ammo and find weapons.

Navigating is a pain so I suggest looking at the map save a lot and resit the temptation to kill everyone make sure they want to kill you first.

You might just want to start over.

The beginning of the game is actually my favorite part, because it does tend to feel like you're just scraping by to survive in the wastes. You'll get farther talking to people rather than shooting at them, and you'll have more ammo left to shoot raiders (who tend to have their own ammo and weapon stashes you can then raid). That said, with your current character you can probably make your way north to Paradise Falls or south to Tenpenny Tower, they'll probably get along with you quite well!!

You should start by not shooting everyone, especially the people that sell you shit.
