When I first played Oblivion a few years ago, I instantly fell in love with it. Hours of my life were spent on doing all the quests. And then Fallout came, and I thought that it looked perfect. But after a hour or two spent wandering the wasteland, I came to the discovery that I wanted to go on Oblivion again. And so I created a new character in Oblvion and fallout 3 was left, only to be picked up again. So in short I prefered Oblivion, even though Fallout was good.

What's everyones feelings on it?

Standard Vs. Thread disapproval, blah blah blah.

Oblivion. Just had a wider scope, plus the poor auto-leveling system never made me feel godlike.

Oblivion felt like a poor man's Morrowind.

Fallout 3 wasn't perfect either, not by a long shot, but I found it to be more enjoyable than Oblivion.

Haven't played Fallout 3 yet, but I am ADORING Oblivion, haven't played anything else as much as that game.

Oblivion without mods in less fun then Fallout 3 without mods. But Oblivion with mods beats the shit out of Fallout 3 with mods. And I just love making hilariously strong spells and enchanted items, weapons and armor. Fallout 3 had a better story though. And it did a better job of emerging players into the world. But Morrowind tops them both. In all aspects except graphics.

Oblivion cause I love the fantasy setting, wizards, elfs and ogres are awesome^^. Oblivion also had a better mystic feel I think, Fallout 3 was only "uncomfortable" at times:p

I like Fallout 3 and Oblivion.

I found myself playing more of Fallout 3 though.

although I did get 100% completion in oblivion (loosing a good chunk of my humanity in the proses) I thought fallout 3 was an overall more polished and enjoyable game though.

I considered Fallout 3 a temporary masterpiece, whereas Oblivion will forever be my Mona Lisa.

I didn't really like either, but I found Oblivion to be somewhat more bearable.

I had the exact opposite experience. The opening of Fallout 3 pretty much put me off the game for good. I've never got past the first "quest". Which is a shame, because it looked to have a lot of thought put into parts of it. Basically I had the exact opposite experience as Yahtzee with Oblivion and Fallout 3 - I thought the first one was a great deal more immersive than the second.

So I'm strongly on the side of the Oblivion supporters here. It's far from perfect, but in terms of immersiveness it's got a massive advantage over Fallout 3.

You should have given it a chance. It does take a while to get things going and I almost gave up on it as well. I voted for Oblivion too though. Overall, it was more fun and I invested more time into it.

Oblivion - I've got something like 300 hours on it and I've finished almost every quest (just those boring Umbacano ones left).

In Fallout on the other hand, I haven't even finished the main questline. I just find it really dull and boring.

I perfer Fallout over Oblivion. Both games are fantastic, but I just liked the gritty landscape and the futuristic weapons of Fallout over the lush forests and steel of Oblivion.
