Sergeant RL-3 is awesome. Unlike the other followers, I have yet to encounter a random glitch that made him try to kill me.

Plus he's a robot.

Sergeant RL-3. Thanks to official add-ons, he's actually bloody useful.

* He has limitless flamethrower and plasma rounds, as well as a carrying capacity of 197.5 pounds. As you don't need to give him any weapons or armour, he can be used as an effective pack rat as well as a tactical support unit, capable of playing a heavy weapons support role or a sniper support role.

* The Broken Steel DLC lets RL-3 to level up alongside you, "allowing his weapons to become far more powerful and accurate and intensifying his durability to that of a small tank", meaning you don't need to change follower at higher levels.

And then once more, when most of the kids were grouped up. With the Experimental MIRV (Fatman that launches 8 nukes at once).
