Both of course. I liked Fallout better, but it's been longer since Elder Scrolls, so both but ES first.

Yes, Bethesda's two best titles, Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls VI: Oblivion, have been compared like crazy. Which is better? Which is more fun? Which has the most epic story? While each are similar, they both have their strong points.

Well, since that has been done like crazy, I figure it's time to twist the thinking a little bit. It doesn't matter what Bethesda has in the works right now, but rather what you would like to see come out first. It's a matter of which would get you hyped up like a five-year-old on crack the most. Since such an endeavor would take up all their time, Bethesda can only push 'em out one at a time, so the "Both" option has been scratch off the poll.

So, what is the verdict, Escapists?
Having not played a Fallout yet, I can honestly say I;m ready for my next dose of the Scrolls that are Elder.

As much as I loved both games, I have to say that both are unnecessary sequels.
Blasphemy!

Elder Scrolls. If they could jsut fix two things!

Enemies leveling. (...or as I call it an excuse for not mapping out levels for enemies.)
Leveling System (You don't grind to become good, you abstain from all tasks that aren't going to increase your desired stats.

That's old news right there, boyo. These days, it could be either yea or nae from the dev team. In all honesty, it probably won't be coming out next year, but there is hope for the next.

Any true fan would recognize that a series has to end at some point. Anyone else would be FANatic (possibly with undiagnosed OCD) or a FANboy/girl. And I don't know about anyone else, but I got the distinct impression that Oblivion was meant to be a big fiery conclusion to, what I assumed, was the whole series. So when I heard they were developing TES V, I was quite surprised.

It's a tough one because they are both so awesome whilst also being quite different in terms of the world you're in. I'd personally say Fallout. But then it did have the advantage of being developed some time after Oblivion. I preferred the combat in it. Seemed a bit more balanced between the abilities. I found Oblivion a bit too imbalanced in favour of the combat classes. Fallout was more rounded. And it had the Neeson in it.

Elder Scrolls struck a chord with me better than Fallout. Elder Scrolls had this immersion in it (while Morrowind had so many goofy issues it was funny just to see what happens next) and the purpose of gaming is to escape reality and enter a fantasy world and tell your life's issues to go fuck off.

Personally, I didn't get that impression at all. It was more like a new beginning. No emperor means that the Empire is not going to be as strong as it used to be, and thus, conflict between the provinces. I will agree with you, some series must know when to end or be given a complete make-over, such being the Silent Hill series.

But, honestly, he's not being a fanatic. The Elder Scrolls has the potential to continue growing and expanding. Taking a look at the story and lore of the Elder Scrolls, you'll see that there are many provinces which have barely been touched upon, save for Arena (and even then you could only explore the towns and dungeons in the limited graphics of the time). Again, look at Silent Hill. It's story was so tight that developers barely had any room to breathe. The town itself has been completely mapped out, no where new to explore without treading over old ground. Elder Scrolls doesn't have that problem. It has a huge world, and it has even been stated that Tamriel is not the only continent in the world. Even with the huge unexplored world, it's a fantasy world, giving the dev team the ability to jump ahead a century to give a fresh feel to the series without creating any problems since THEY created the world to begin with.

The Elder Scrolls has all the potential in the world to continue as a series. There's no reason for it to stop because there are a thousand ways to make it feel fresh and new. And since the dev team is so good, I have no doubt they will have no problems keeping the series alive and pleasing fans all over.

I found it alot easier to get immersed in the elderscroll series.
Morowind + expansions was awesome.. i spent numerous hours on that. And oblivion was great as well.
but i would still love to see a TES V, where they looked at oblivion and corrected the mistakes they made there.

Devs should start reading forums to see what people want instead of what te devs want =)

Elder Scrolls. I love both games, but in oblivion you feel much less limited. like in fallout you had a certain amount of ammo for everything, a certain amount of healing items, a certain amount of radiation you could handle, health, weight, and object condition. In oblivion it was just health, magic, weight, and object condition. Magic regenerated and you could use it to restore your health so the only thing with a definite limit was weight and object condition, which makes it a lot easier to just enjoy the game as opposed to constantly running back and forth from megaton to restock on crap. Plus it's always cool to be able to shoot fireballs out of your hands.
Except of course that every monster was equally difficult and so it was just a total grindfest. Fallout 3 came out of the gate much better imo.

Still, if they can do for TES: V what they did for Fallout 3, I'd like them to do that instead of Fallout 4

Well, i previously said the elder scrolls. But I'm going to say it again, but only because of how much it could be improved.

The main storyline seemed to suck, you just walk around, close like 15 gates and then finish the game, also the leveling system made you want to stab something. For some reason you just can't level freely without getting to the point where your level 20 with crap stats, and every enemy your facing has daedric armor.

Elder Scrolls because I don't really like Fallout 3's setting. I'm more of a fantasty RPG person.
Grey and brown just get so boring to look at.
