Since the Elder Scrolls series has no direct sequels, it is impossible to conclude it. It's not like Halo where you can kill off the leader of those... stupid alien things, or Lord of the Rings, where you have an entire plot in 3 pieces, with no possibility to continue it. It's a huge planet and as long as there are unexplored lands and ages, the series can continue.canadamus_prime said:Any true fan would recognize that a series has to end at some point. Anyone else would be FANatic (possibly with undiagnosed OCD) or a FANboy/girl. And I don't know about anyone else, but I got the distinct impression that Oblivion was meant to be a big fiery conclusion to, what I assumed, was the whole series. So when I heard they were developing TES V, I was quite surprised.

Don't get all up in arms over my comment. The question still stands as it is. Especially considering you all have a special place in your hearts for some part of the Elder Scrolls series, the announcement of a new installment would generally have you all reacting in the same manner, correct? So there you go!
Why? Remakes are bloody boring! They have no unexpected plot twists or surprises, because you already know the plot! Sure you can add many shit like armor and npcs, but the story is the same! No, remakes are bad imo. (although I would like a villain like Dagoth Ur. again. Civilized with many arguments to back up his decisions and none of his answers are "I kill you because you all have to pay! MUAHAHAHAHA!")randomsix said:I understand completely. Then I suppose I should say this: I hope ES5 is more like morrowind than oblivion. That should be more accurate to my sentiments than my earlier posts.Russian_Assassin said:Why? I think many of us would agree to this. Morrowind may have had like 5 voices, and the graphics weren't that great, but it's atmosphere and story will be remembered for a long time! (imagine this sentence with the Morrowind theme playing in the background)randomsix said:Then I suppose I should say this: I hope ES5 is more like morrowind than oblivion. Well I assumed the OP was just talking about the next installment, I doubt the new Elder Scrolls is going to have the main name with a V at the end just like the last one was called Oblivion.RAND00M said:But you said that you were excited for New Vegas whilst this thread states FO4.Srkkl said:Yes I am aware I'm just more excited for the new instalment of Fallout more.
Wrong on three accounts. First, I said Fallout 4, not the "next installment". Second, I said Bethesda and clearly made the of them being the developers. If you did know preemptively that New Vegas was not Fallout 4, it would have been pretty hard to confuse the two considering what I said. If you made a mistake, you made a mistake.Srkkl said:Well I assumed the OP was just talking about the next installment, I doubt the new Elder Scrolls is going to have the main name with a V at the end just like the last one was called Oblivion.
I know the Oblivion game had Elder Scrolls at the beginning if you read what I said I meant I doubt their isn't going to be a sub-name. No I didn't see you list Bethesda I am wrong there, I guess. And my comment still stands, Fallout, and when they first announced New Vegas they said it would play the same as Fallout 3 so I assumed it was Fallout 4:New Vegas, there I was mistaken.TheDrunkNinja said:Wrong on three accounts. Third, Oblivion's full title was the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It's only commonly known to the fans as just Oblivion. The next installment WILL be named the Elder Scrolls V: , and the fans will probably just call it .
Sorry if it seems like I'm picking on you, but I get all in a knot when people get this stuff wrong... Like calling Morrowind, Oblivion 3.... Ugh... First page, comment #9...
