If it's the same abomination of story and lore that Fallout 3 was. No thank you. Bethesda doesn't deserve my money for a repeat of that.

Not if it's yet another generic shooter game.
Say what you want about Fallout 3, but in no way was that 'generic'. Just... no.
It was the most soul-less hollywoodized story I've ever experienced in a game. Saving the wasteland, which is just a few cows and some homeless people in a square mile of dirt and debris, by setting up a simple purifier downstream. With 'dad' as a sort of messiah sacrificing himself without even knowing what's going on because the big bad enclave which was blown up, travelled across the country. And this ruthless enclave is destroyed by a 19 year old. Meanwhile a vault that shouldn't exist, houses mutants that shouldn't be there, because vault tec got it's hands on fev which they couldn't get.

-[Intelligence] So the enclave are destroyed?
-Rawr wanderer smash!
-Good bye
I pitty the dim existance you must live in my friend.

Fallout 3 is a great masterpiece of gaming, the story, the conflicts, the atmosphere being most important, the innovative combat style, the relatable environment, unless I suppose you're not from the U.S., these all make up one of my favorite games of all time.

I'd like it if they gave you more than 1 companion, like in the first 2. It makes the combat a bit more tactical.

And hells yes, i'll be buying the next fallout.

fallout 3 was one of my favorite games ever. So, it goes without saying that I would sell a kidney to get fallout 4. Also lets not forget they also acquired the rights for a fallout MMO, which again I would sell a kidney to get.

I don't much like the idea. Never in my life have I encountered a gaming environment quite as bland as the wasteland, and with no nostalgia in its favor I'm afraid the theme has soured the whole franchise for me.

I want Bethesda to do something entirely new - I could go for some sci-fi Bethesda-style, for instance. Say, an open-world take on the early twentieth century pop-sci-fi ideals? Weird aliens, crashed spaceships, and planets in the sky?

Or perhaps their take on a Terra Nova/Jurassic Park/A Sound of Thunder idea. Dinosaurs, sabrecats, jungle, and machineguns? Count me in.

I doubt I'd buy it if Bethesda developed it. If Obsidian developed it, I'd pre-order.
Please please please please please at the very least co-develop it with Obsidian. They have Tim Cain as full-fledged staff now! Cain! Sawyer! AVELLONE!

I played Fallout 3 and didn't enjoy it. That was my first foray into Fallout games, so I thought I just didn't like the series. But then I decided to give New Vegas a chance when I heard all about the faction system, which was something I had been saying for a long time that Bethesda games needed. And I freaking love New Vegas. I'm currently on my...fifth playthrough? It's just wonderful.

What would I want to see in it? More cause and effect. More heavily themed quests like there were in New Vegas (especially the DLC). I'd like them to center us on a community. Make us really feel part of it, to the point where we will want to come back and check in. Let us try to help that community in different ways (or destroy it) and have it change over the course of the game.

One of the most interesting parts of a post-apocalyptic game to me is the rebuilding of communities, cities, and societies. I'd like to be a direct part of them, and have the changes be tangible.
agreed on absolutely everything. Especially that last part, I would LOVE seeing the cause/effect of rebuilding/manipulating communities and such in a fallout 4 style setting. just because it's the apocalypse doesn't mean there is only a group of raiders and a half dead rabbit every 4 square miles, gimme a reason to care dammit.

Bethesda: yes. Obsidian: hell yes. There's a lot left unexplored in the Fallout IP, and I wanna see where the writers take it.

Hell yeah I love all the fallout games (BROTHER HOOD OF STEEL DOSN'T COUNT) hell what I would love for them to do is have Bethesda make a sequel and then have obsidian make a spin-off that would be awesome.

Well, yeah. im going to buy it to see how Bethesda managed to incorporate what they learned on Skyrim to Fallout 4.

Oh and don't worry, Bethesda will not do such a thing. TO JOIN EA? Hell no.

Sure, the game as a whole was pretty sweet and extensive, but the combat and gameplay mechanics themselves were generic.
