It's pretty easy to finish off the Powder Gangers and get a satisfactory epilogue slide concerning their fate. You just have to visit the Vault they're based out of (forget the number) and kill their leader (you'll end up fighting everyone else in there but hey, it's just more experience).

I've only ever played through New Vegas once and I went with the Independent ending. I had been helping NCR throughout because Caesar and his crew are dicks. Interesting thing with House is I never game him a chance. I did every other quest except meeting him to the point where I had 3-4 quests in my log that required me to kill/confront/disable him. By the time I met him face to face, I had long since put in motion my power play to take over the Strip.

As for DLCs, I liked Lonesome Road and Old World Blues the best. I wasn't a fan of Dead Money but I didn't mind Honest Hearts.

Oh and Old World Blues has James Urbaniak as a VA pretty much as a version of Dr. Venture so win!

And That said:
The only other noticeable thing it gives you is 37 pieces of gold that you can't carry out of the game unless you're a stealth min-maxer. Even if you sell 2 of them, you flat out brake the game, since you can now afford every item in the world.
You obviously haven't experienced all of Gun Runner's Arsenal. Those special weapons can run you more than 10,000 caps a pop. I have to exploit a glitch in the trade system just to afford it. But, my character has 100 speech, 100 barter, 100 science, 100 sneak, 10 intelligence, and above average agility, so I justify it as him running the greatest con scheme the Mojave has ever seen.

To op, independent ending is definitely the best. House is an egomaniac, the NCR is corrupt and unproductive, and the legion will fall apart once its charismatic leader dies. I haven't played all the dlcs (was working through them in order, part way through honest hearts when I stopped and haven't yet gotten back), but Dead Money is a bit of a pain in the ass. It has its high points, but it mostly just made me think about how much I hate disorienting maps.

Dead Money was my favorite DLC. It had the most intriguing plot and some of the best characters in the whole damn franchise. If there's anyone that doesn't like Dean, I don't want to know them.
I may have had an easier time with it as my character had maxed out energy weapons, so the holo rifle was perfect for him. Some people complained about the radios, but I liked that added element of danger. The only time I had a problem finding one of them was I think the very last one. Otherwise, you just have to have a small bit of awareness towards your environment.

Old World Blues was good wacky fun. Plus it had Dr. Venture! If you want something lighthearted, this is a good pick. Also the most popular by far, so take that for what it's worth.

Lonesome Road is decent, but it's pretty much nothing but a combat slog. It's nice to get some closure about the Ulysses and all that, but eh... I was not as into it as the the first two I talked about.

Honest Hearts had a lot of promise, and fell a bit flat. The lore is pretty good, and it definitely had some memorable characters, but it just felt far too empty. I'm glad I played through it, but I'd put it at the bottom of the list.

Old World Blues contains the most of the humour of the originals, Honest Hearts does the most to cover tribal life and also features the accounts of the Survivor - a victim of the War who above all else was determined to rebuild his life rather than moping about (again, much in keeping with the originals). Dead Money relies heavily on stealth mechanics which are, let's face it, not great in this engine. Lonesome Road is good fun but relies very heavily on themes of pre-destination and fate which don't sit well in an RPG which is all about personal choice and self-determination.

I've played through the game many times trying each ending and favouring different factions over others each time and the most rewarding play-through I have had yet is the Independant (Yes-Man) play-through that heavily favoured the Followers and New Caanan using diplomacy to force an accord with the Whitelegs and ultimately the NCR. There are plenty of other endings on offer, of course, and which you prefer is down to you but that was my favourite choice. Big Mountain and NCR victories are not to be sniffed at either, mind you.

What I don't like about New Vegas (keep in mind that I love this game) is how it kind of makes you feel like a jerk no matter what ending you choose. The best is probably independent with Yes Man because you just can't say no to Yes Man.

Also I like to think that after I conquered the Mojave Wasteland that I ran around constantly stopping crime like Superman.

And I haven't played any of the DLC either so I guess I'll be looking at the recommendations in this thread as well.

If your like me, you should go with Dead Money. I may be the only person on earth to love this add-on. It had excellent characters, theme, and voice acting. Sure it is rather short, but it gave an outstanding storyline and some good loot. The only real con to it is that you probaly need a high level character to get the full experience.

As for the main quest factions,
1. Mr. House, he knew how to organize and make things happen, but not go crazy with power, a very good choice.
2. NCR, beleiving it freedom, democracy, fairness, blah, blah, blah, *insert supposed U.S. charaterstic here* Oh, and you got a stereotypical happy go lucky ending
3. Legion, currently working this one. Horribly one sided and seem all evil with no greyish area.
4. Wild card. I'm saving this for last, cus it's gonna be awesome.

Get them all as for the ending I would do NCR. The legion good parts if mixed with the NCR's good parts would make a great faction, but the brotherhood are too scared to do anything, and I wish their was a Circle of Steel base in New Vegas. I mean the legion had GREAT security it just their plain evil. The NCR can not provide a good amount of security even thro alot of people want it to do more than sit in their base, and wait. Mr House is not a great future choice because he never try to help stop deathclaws( and mutated animals), or the raiders while the NCR did everything, and their desert rangers help alot of people. It should have been NCR vs Brotherhood that helped people. That would have made for a better tougher decision. As for how I would play the DLCS in order it would be.

1. Honest Hearts
2. Old World Blues
3. Dead Money
4. Lonesome Road.

Question:

I'm playing a melee oriented character and I plan to work with the Legion. Who would be the best companion for me? I have ED-E with me, but I'm not sure if he'll be enough. I know Boone would be a bad choice considering how much he hates the Legion.

Try people out. I think you're best left in the dark on this one...

I recommend Lonesome Road for the Plot, but Old World Blues is seriously one of the most enjoyable; Still I recommend them all for the connection between them.
